After three games postponed, an NHL pause, and a 10-day break, the Washington Capitals are back to take on the Nashville Predators at Capital One Arena where masks are mandatory again and vax cards will be soon too.
The Capitals’ lineup will be buoyed by the returns of Nicklas Backstrom, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Tom Wilson, and TJ Oshie.
Ilya Samsonov will start in net. Alex Alexeyev is making his NHL debut!

Remember when I said Friday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets was going to be weird? Well, tonight’s matchup against the Los Angeles Kings is gonna be super bizarro, too.
The Capitals lost another star forward to COVID-19 protocol this morning, TJ Oshie. The Caps’ bottom two lines will feature four players from Hershey. F O U R. If you’re asking yourself, why in the world is this game even being played like, Ian, couldn’t more people get COVID?, just know, that is a rational question to ask and I’m confused too.
Tonight’s game is on NBC Sports Washington. Vitek Vanecek is starting in net. The hometown kid, Joe Snively, is making his NHL debut.
The Washington Capitals are taking on the Winnipeg Jets in what could be one of the strangest games in years. And that’s saying something considering the Capitals played in empty arenas almost all of last season.

The Washington Capitals will try to get back in the win column against the Chicago Blackhawks tonight after a stunning 5-4 loss to the Florida Panthers on Tuesday. The Capitals collapsed in the third period, giving up four goals.
Ilya Samsonov, who stopped 46 of 51 shots that night, will sit for the first time in five games, surrendering the net to Vitek Vanecek.
The Capitals will get Justin Schultz back in the lineup after missing several games due to injury. Daniel Sprong will also return from being a scratch for the last two games.
The Washington Capitals are ready to finish a three-game gauntlet against two former Southeast Division foes as they meet the Florida Panthers for the second time in less than a week. None of that matinee business today as we have a regular few minutes after 7 PM puck drop.
Ilya Samsonov will be back in the net for the fourth straight game as he continues to flip the entire Caps goaltender situation on its head.
