Live blog: Capitals take on division rival Hurricanes for first time this season

The Washington Capitals are taking on the Carolina Hurricanes for the first time this season. Puck drop is shortly after 1 pm, which we all know is just the greatest time for hockey to start. Sike.

Ilya Samsonov will get his third straight start, while Lars Eller makes his return to the lineup for the first time in two weeks. Dennis Cholowski will get a jersey again as Justin Schultz remains out with injury.

Live blog: Capitals play Panthers on Black Friday

The Washington Capitals are taking on the Florida Panthers on Black Friday. Puck drop is shortly after 5 pm, which should not be allowed on both a work and weekday.

Ilya Samsonov will get the start in net tonight, while Conor Sheary, Justin Schultz, and Lars Eller are out. Dennis Cholowski will get a jersey for the second time in his Capitals career and skate on the third pairing with Trevor van Riemsdyk.

The Caps will be playing in their navy blue third jerseys for the second time this season. (They may or may not be bad luck.)

Live blog: Capitals face Montreal Canadiens on Thanksgiving Eve

After a long four-game road trip (2-1-1 record) and two days off, the Washington Capitals are back for some pre-Thanksgiving action against the Montreal Canadiens.

The Capitals return to Capital One Arena battered and bruised — without five of their forwards. Rookie forward Aliaksei Protas will skate on the first line with Alex Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov — his literal idols growing up.

Ilya Samsonov will start in net and try to continue his consecutive shutout streak going.

Live blog: Capitals take on Seattle Kraken for first time, Vitek Vanecek’s ‘revenge game’

The Washington Capitals’ four-game West Coast road trip finally ends tonight and not a moment too soon. The Capitals announced before the game that TJ Oshie and Conor Sheary are both out with injury.

Seattle Kraken legend Vitek Vanecek will start against his former team in what many (silly) people are calling his revenge game. Former Capitals goaltender Philipp Grubauer, who has struggled mightily this season, will be in net for the Kraken.

Live blog: AJF makes NHL debut as Capitals take on Sabres

The Washington Capitals are at home, playing host to the 5-4-2 Buffalo Sabres. The Caps are all banged up, but the fun news is that Axel Jonsson-Fjallby is slated to make his NHL debut.

We’ll get to see another all-rookie lineup with AJF-McMichael-Leason. Anyone that ever called us an “old team” needs to take it back. Immediately. Myself included.

Live blog: Capitals take on undefeated-in-regulation Panthers

The Washington Capitals are still in Florida taking on another former Southeast Division foe in the Florida Panthers. The Panthers are 8-0-1 to start the season so this should be the toughest test yet for the Caps.

Nic Dowd is back in the lineup and Ilya Samsonov will be between the pipes.

Highlights from the Capitals’s 3-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning

The Washington Capitals recorded their first loss in regulation against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday night. It was bound to happen and with the Lightning on a win streak, no surprise at the outcome!

While the Caps lineup was missing some key players, including the addition of Nic Dowd to the injured reserve list, it was great to see Aliaksei Protas’ league debut AND Brett Leason’s first NHL goal!

Highlights from the Capitals’s 2-0 win over the Coyotes

The Washington Capitals played host to the the Arizona Coyotes on Friday evening. This brings the Arizona Coyotes’s record to 0-7-1 this season. Not ideal.

After a scoreless, boring two periods of the game, John Carlson scored a goal during the 3rd period. Alex Ovechkin scored an empty netter to round it all out.

Highlights from the Capitals’s 3-2 loss to the Red Wings (OT)

The Washington Capitals hosted the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday night. The game might have started with some high spirits after a fabulous goal from Alex Ovechkin, but in the end the Caps couldn’t make it work. Red Wings win in over time.

The Capitals are still rolling without a loss in regulation this season, but there have been a few close calls. I’d consider tonight one of them.
