Live blog: Capitals West Coast trip begins with the Ducks

The Capitals are kicking off their west coast road trip tonight in Anaheim to face off against the Ducks. I’m exhausted, but let’s be exhausted together!

Both the Capitals and the Ducks are showing up tonight hoping to extend their win streak. The Capitals have won four straight, while the Ducks are on a seven-game streak.

The big news surrounding the Capitals is that Lars Eller won’t be playing tonight due to the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol; Garrett Pilon will be taking his place.

Puck drop is at 10 PM EST (I know, I know). Keep up with all the game action in the highlights below.

Live blog: AJF makes NHL debut as Capitals take on Sabres

The Washington Capitals are at home, playing host to the 5-4-2 Buffalo Sabres. The Caps are all banged up, but the fun news is that Axel Jonsson-Fjallby is slated to make his NHL debut.

We’ll get to see another all-rookie lineup with AJF-McMichael-Leason. Anyone that ever called us an “old team” needs to take it back. Immediately. Myself included.

Puck drop is at 7 PM, and you can watch the game on NBC Sports Washington.

Aliaksei Protas does solo rookie lap ahead of his NHL debut against Tampa Bay Lightning

It’s another rookie lap for the Capitals! Aliaksei Protas got the usual treatment from his teammates before his NHL debut against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Monday.

Protas got a couple solid solo laps in during warmups before the rest of his teammates joined him on the ice.

Highlights from the Capitals’s 3-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning

The Washington Capitals recorded their first loss in regulation against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday night. It was bound to happen and with the Lightning on a win streak, no surprise at the outcome!

While the Caps lineup was missing some key players, including the addition of Nic Dowd to the injured reserve list, it was great to see Aliaksei Protas’ league debut AND Brett Leason’s first NHL goal!

Highlights from the Capitals’s 2-0 win over the Coyotes

The Washington Capitals played host to the the Arizona Coyotes on Friday evening. This brings the Arizona Coyotes’s record to 0-7-1 this season. Not ideal.

After a scoreless, boring two periods of the game, John Carlson scored a goal during the 3rd period. Alex Ovechkin scored an empty netter to round it all out.

Highlights from the Capitals’s 3-2 loss to the Red Wings (OT)

The Washington Capitals hosted the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday night. The game might have started with some high spirits after a fabulous goal from Alex Ovechkin, but in the end the Caps couldn’t make it work. Red Wings win in over time.

The Capitals are still rolling without a loss in regulation this season, but there have been a few close calls. I’d consider tonight one of them.

Highlights from the Capitals’s 7-5 win over the Sens

Okay, maybe I spoke too soon when I mentioned how the Caps had a chaotic last game. The Washington Capitals faced off against the Ottawa Senators and it was a BLAST.

Tons of goals, a TJ Oshie hat trick, Connor McMichael‘s first NHL point, Hendrix Lapierre‘s homecoming, and a bra on the ice??? Is this the beginning of a riddle? Perhaps, but you’ll just have to scroll down to catch all the juicy highlights from the game.

Saturday mayhem: Flames beat Capitals 4-3 (OT)

The Washington Capitals played host to the Calgary Flames this afternoon and it was the perfect amount of chaos. I’m out of coffee in my home, so it was just enough chaos to keep me on my toes!

Ugh, the first period. Despite having a couple chances to score on the power play in the first period, the Caps didn’t rise to the occasion. The Flames scored 3 goals in the first, including a shorthanded goal from Elias Lindholm. Don’t worry, the Caps didn’t look horrific, they were unlucky and still waking up.

The Caps put Ilya Samsonov in to start the second period. Maybe that helped light a fire under some butts? Whatever works, I guess! Evgeny Kuznetsov had a quick shorthanded goal, Martin Fehervary scored his first NHL goal, and Alex Ovechkin tied it all up at 3-3.

The third period happened. Nothing too exciting, so the game headed to *dun dun dun* OT. Elias Lindholm scored the game winner for the Flames.

Flames beat Caps 4-3.

Highlights from the Capitals’ 4-1 win over the Devils

The first road game for the Washington Capitals was a roaring success against the New Jersey Devils. We had the absolute pleasure to witness another Evgeny Kuznetsov goal, an all Russian goal, and a dominant first period.

How are we feeling? All of this feels very good.

Highlights from the Capitals’s 6-3 win over the Avalanche

The Washington Capitals hosted and defeated the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday with a final score of 6-3. Evgeny Kuznetsov scored twice, Tom Wilson had three assists, and Nick Jensen posted his eighth career multi-point game (1g, 1a).

The game was capped by an Alex Ovechkin empty-net goal. In my humble opinion, every game should end with an Ovi goal.
