The NHL gave us a gift on Monday — 32 to be exact. In conjunction with Fanatics, the league unveiled its new Hometown Remix jersey line where they created a special-edition jersey for each and every team inspired by the culture, history, landmarks, and fans of its respective city.

Naturally, with nearly three dozen different designs, some team’s sweaters absolutely cooked, while others seemed to get “lost in the sauce,” as Maryland-born WWE wrestler LA Knight would say.

To rank our favorites, we gave the keys of the blog to RMNB jersey designer KP, who lives near Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and has a refined taste and style above our own. KP tells me he considered how evident the ties to the city were, the color schemes, logos, originality, nostalgia, and perhaps most importantly, whether he’d be embarrassed to wear one of the jerseys to his local Sobeys. I also added some important context and links to each team’s merch if you want to explore further.

Please note: KP’s rankings are entirely subjective, completely arbitrary, and, of course, 100 percent correct. So, no arguin’ in the comments.

Okay, class is now in session.

KP’s tier list for the Hometown Remix jerseys

S tier

Vegas Golden Knights

Vegas Golden Knights Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The Vegas Golden Knights’ new sweater draws inspiration from the city’s casino culture with a predominantly black design accented by jade green, metallic gold, and red.

The familiar Golden Knights crest appears in gold embroidery within an ornate green frame, while the shoulder panels feature casino-felt textures decorated with playing-card suits. Red-and-black sleeve patterns resemble sections of a roulette wheel, and customized player numbers take inspiration from playing cards. A scripted Vegas inscription appears inside the hem.

KP’s take: Perfection. Nailed the nod to the city by going with a roulette themed jersey. It’s wacky and fun but still looks great. The sleeve details are outstanding as well. Perfect.

Nashville Predators

Nashville Predators Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The Nashville Predators’ design pays tribute to Music City’s country music heritage with a deep navy base and intricate gold detailing inspired by the elaborate stagewear worn by country music stars.

The sweater features subtle pinstripes, a gold Predators crest filled with decorative filigree, and matching ornamental patterns across the shoulders, sleeves, and numbers. Additional details include Tennessee’s state flower, the iris, incorporated into the sleeve design, and a hidden “NASHVILLE” wordmark inside the hem.

KP’s take: Also labelling this one as perfect. It looks sick, is something totally new that we’ve never seen before, and ties into Nashville evidently and does it well. Looks like a classic western button up shirt immediately.

Montreal Canadiens

Montreal Canadiens Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The Montreal Canadiens’ Hometown Remix jersey reimagines the franchise’s iconic CH logo on a white sweater featuring red architectural detailing.

The crest incorporates patterns inspired by Montreal’s historic stone buildings, while red gradient panels along the sides reference Mount Royal. Five symbols taken from the city’s flag appear along each sleeve, representing Montreal’s cultural heritage. The customized player numbers feature stonework-inspired textures and fleur-de-lis details, with additional fleurs-de-lis surrounding a Montreal inscription inside the hem.

KP’s take: Always worry the Habs will play it safe. They didn’t and it looks slick as hell. The arms and logo treatment both are super clean but still new and fun.

A tier

Washington Capitals

Washington Capitals Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

Ah, our hometown team! The Washington Capitals’ Hometown Remix jersey combines the franchise’s late-1990s and early-2000s identity with architectural details inspired by Washington, DC.

The steel-blue sweater brings back the vintage Capitol Dome logo on the chest and Screaming Eagle patches on the shoulders. White sections of the jersey feature marble-like textures inspired by the city’s monuments, complemented by bronze-gold trim and sculpted lettering. Cherry blossom imagery and a tribute to “The DMV” appear inside the hem. See additional photos and learn more.

KP’s take: Nailed a look using the teal from the 90’s here. The marble textured white is such a cool nod to the city that still looks clean. I think a pink instead of copper, or more cherry blossom elements would’ve had it in the S tier but no complaints.

Anaheim Ducks

Anaheim Ducks Hometown Remix Jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

Flying off the shelves online, the Anaheim Ducks’ Hometown Remix jersey plays off the famous Mighty Ducks movies and brings back the franchise’s classic green, purple, and gold color scheme with a Kelly green base and purple sleeves.

The team’s current duck-mask logo appears on the chest in matching colors, while purple and gold stripes wrap around the sleeves and waist. The sleeve design incorporates Anaheim’s familiar flying-V pattern, while an “Orange Country” inscription inside the hem references the team’s Southern California roots.

KP’s take: Fantastic and unique, nostalgic nod to a classic movie. My wanting to limit the S tier to my personal 3 favs for the purpose of exclusivity to the top tier is the only reason it’s not up there as well. Top 5 in this rollout. Love that they finally rolled an iteration of these out.

Carolina Hurricanes

Carolina Hurricanes Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The Carolina Hurricanes’ Hometown Remix jersey features a storm-grey base and an unexpected centerpiece: Stormy, the team’s “beloved” pig mascot. A full-body illustration of Stormy wearing a white bucket hat, T-shirt, red shorts, and sneakers replaces the Hurricanes’ traditional crest.

Red storm-inspired bands wrap around the sleeves, incorporating embossed oak leaves, while a Raleigh skyline design references the city’s nickname, the City of Oaks. The shoulders feature custom patches inspired by North Carolina landmarks and the state flag.

KP’s take: I hate gray jerseys. It’s dark enough where I don’t hate it at all. The logo is awesome, it’s new and Carolina, who can’t get uniforms right to save their lives, got it right.

Florida Panthers

Florida Panthers Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

It’s Miami Vice on a hockey jersey. The Florida Panthers‘ Hometown Remix jersey embraces South Florida’s beach culture with a striking sunrise-coral pink base. Inspired by vintage graphic beach T-shirts, the centerpiece is a redesigned version of the team’s classic palm-tree-and-hockey-stick logo, presented against a colorful sunset. Navy sleeves feature gold striping and throwback panther-head shoulder patches. The tropical color scheme continues around the waist, with a hidden “SOUTH FLORIDA” inscription inside the hem.

KP’s take: Insane and fun. It’s crazy but that’s the point of these. It feels very Miami/South Beach even though they didn’t go traditional al Miami vice pink blue and black. It rocks.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Toronto Maple Leafs Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The Toronto Maple Leafs’ Hometown Remix jersey celebrates the 100th anniversary of the team’s name with a vintage-inspired cream-and-navy design.

The chest features a redesigned version of Toronto’s original multi-pointed maple leaf logo, complete with intricate leaf-vein detailing, above an arched “TORONTO” wordmark. The same vein patterns appear in the navy sleeve stripes and player numbers. Inside the hem, a “TORONTO FOREVER” inscription is accompanied by silhouettes of historic Maple Leafs logos.

KP’s take: Sharp classic look. Really like the leaf veins in the logo and numbers. Removal of the white accents would’ve probably had it in the S tier.

Minnesota Wild

Minnesota Wild Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The Minnesota Wild’s Hometown Remix jersey is an homage to their Minnesota North Stars days.

It transforms the team’s familiar forest-themed logo into a nighttime scene inspired by Minnesota’s northern wilderness. Set against a black base, the crest features a crescent moon, stars, and green treetops in place of its traditional sunset. Subtle Ursa Major and Ursa Minor constellation patterns decorate the upper sleeves, while green and cloud-like white stripes reinforce the celestial theme. The player numbers feature twin stars representing the Twin Cities.

KP’s take: Awesome execution on a night mode jersey. The numbers / font on the back are the best of the entire league. No they aren’t “just a Stars jersey” if you think they are, you’re wrong.

Utah Mammoth

Utah Mammoth Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The Utah Mammoth’s Hometown Remix jersey features a Mountain Blue base with the franchise’s U-shaped tusk logo prominently displayed on the chest.

A black shoulder yoke contrasts with black-and-white sleeve and waist stripes, arranged to resemble a pair of rising mammoth tusks when the player’s arms are lowered. Subtle snow-inspired textures decorate the white portions of the jersey, reflecting Utah’s mountainous landscape. The Wasatch Mountains appear alongside a Utah wordmark inside the hem.

KP’s take: I’m a sucker for the baby blue. About time they did one. Not in love with the primary logo however. A Mammoth would’ve been cooler.

B tier

Boston Bruins

Boston Bruins Hometown Remix Jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The Boston Bruins’ design embraces the city’s college hockey culture with a vintage brown-and-gold design inspired by varsity jackets and collegiate sweaters.

Gold block lettering spells out “BRUINS” above the player’s number on the chest, replacing the traditional Spoked-B logo. The jersey features a lace-up collar, gold and cream striping, and letterman-style shoulder patches. A brick pattern inside the hem pays tribute to Boston’s historic Freedom Trail.

KP’s take: Always loved the brown and gold combo, and the college-style wordmark with front numbers is something I’ve always thought looked super sharp.

Calgary Flames

Calgary Flames Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The Calgary Flames’ sweater pays tribute to the Scotiabank Saddledome during the arena’s final NHL season.

The red sweater features the team’s flaming-C crest in textured gold, with detailing inspired by the building’s distinctive ceiling. Gold sleeve bands incorporate circular patterns resembling the Saddledome’s windows, while the waist striping traces the arena’s famous saddle-shaped roofline. The years 1983 and 2027 appear inside the hem, commemorating the building’s opening and planned closure.

KP’s take: While I’m not crazy about how the red and gold looks overall, I love all the Saddledome nods. Between the main waist stripe detail, the stitching bevel detail in the C alluding to the Dome’s ceiling, and the arms, they nailed that aspect.

Pittsburgh Penguins

Pittsburgh Penguins Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

Art history nerds: unite! The Pittsburgh Penguins’ Hometown Remix jersey draws inspiration from the city’s pop-art heritage, most famously associated with artist Andy Warhol. The team’s skating-penguin logo is reimagined with halftone dots, offset colors, and light blue accents against a navy base, recalling Pittsburgh’s original NHL colors. Different shoulder patches reference the former Civic Arena and the city’s three rivers. A colorful repeating Pittsburgh wordmark appears inside the hem, reinforcing the jersey’s screen-printed, pop-art aesthetic.

KP’s take: I thought it was an eyesore at first glance, but it’s actually a pretty fun and wild take on the navy and baby blue Pens scheme, which I think they need to lean into more for specialty/alternate jerseys.

Seattle Kraken

Seattle Kraken Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The Seattle Kraken’s Hometown Remix jersey embraces the city’s maritime heritage with a black base and weathered, bone-colored detailing inspired by traditional scrimshaw artwork.

The team’s secondary anchor logo, which incorporates the Space Needle, replaces the usual S crest on the chest and features intricate engraved-style patterns. Matching nautical detailing appears on the shoulder patches and player numbers, while the sleeves feature a Mount Rainier landscape. Subtle teal accents and red rhododendron imagery complete the design.

KP’s take: Not a whole lot to say other than I think it looks clean.

New York Islanders

New York Islanders Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

Suddenly, I’m hungry for some fish-sticks. The New York Islanders’ Hometown Remix jersey revives the franchise’s infamous 1990s Fisherman logo with a modernized design on a white base.

A navy shoulder yoke incorporates teal and orange stripes, while updated lighthouse patches feature “LI” and “NY” lettering. A wave-inspired pattern wraps around the waist, continuing the nautical theme associated with the original Fisherman uniforms. The jersey also features a navy lace-up collar and specially designed lettering with subtle fishhook details.

KP’s take: Fisherman is cool, it’s safe but cool. Looks nice. It’s fine.

Columbus Blue Jackets

Columbus Blue Jackets Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

KA-BOOM! The Columbus Blue Jackets’ Hometown Remix jersey places the franchise’s famous goal cannon front and center on a grey sweater.

The oversized cannon illustration, which may or may not cause permanent ear damage, replaces the team’s usual crest, while navy shoulders feature decorative stars and elaborate engraved-style patterns. Curved sleeve detailing references Columbus’ nickname as the Arch City, with navy and blue stripes running across the sleeves and waist. A special “5th Line” inscription inside the hem honors the team’s fan base.

KP’s take: As mentioned earlier I don’t love gray jerseys. I’m not sold on that logo as a primary crest. But it’s different and it doesn’t look bad. I like the typeface used too. Glad they took a risk of some sort.

Los Angeles Kings

Los Angeles Kings Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The Los Angeles Kings’ Hometown Remix jersey celebrates the franchise’s 60th anniversary by combining its original Forum Blue and gold colors with the iconic chevron logo popularized during the Wayne Gretzky era.

The predominantly purple sweater features a redesigned crest with Hollywood-inspired lettering, vintage crown details, and subtle pinstripes. Gold, black, and white striping decorates the sleeves and waist, with embossed palm-tree patterns referencing Southern California. Six diamonds inside the hem represent the team’s six decades of history.

KP’s take: Don’t love the purple and black with the gold. But it’s new and doesn’t look awful at all. Should be fun on ice.

Ottawa Senators

Ottawa Senators Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The Ottawa Senators’ Hometown Remix jersey features a black-and-gold color scheme inspired by the Canadian capital’s historic architecture.

The team’s familiar centurion logo appears on the chest in metallic gold embroidery, while subtle black-on-black Gothic patterns extend across the sleeves. The shoulder patches incorporate English and French variations of the Senators’ “S” logo, recognizing Ottawa’s bilingual identity. Custom player numbers draw inspiration from Gothic windows and archways, with river-bridge imagery featured inside the hem.

KP’s take: Jersey itself is just okay, but I really do like the logo treatment and the name/number font and the details there.

Colorado Avalanche

Colorado Avalanche Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The Colorado Avalanche’s Hometown Remix jersey celebrates the Rocky Mountains with a predominantly white design featuring shades of blue and metallic silver.

A large Colorado-inspired “C” replaces the team’s traditional Avalanche crest, with the letter filled by layered mountain-elevation patterns. Blue shoulder panels incorporate additional mountain detailing, while silver trim adds a frosted appearance to the striping and logos. A mountain landscape and “COLORADO” inscription appear inside the hem.

KP’s take: Big fan of the colourway and leaning into the Rocky Mountain theme here. I just don’t love the front crest, and could’ve been a fun opportunity to not go with a white jersey. Looks good though.

C tier

Tampa Bay Lightning

Tampa Bay Lightning Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The Tampa Bay Lightning’s Hometown Remix jersey brings back the skull imagery from the team’s Stadium Series design, placing the grinning emblem inside a circular Lightning wordmark on the chest.

The predominantly black sweater features contrasting Sky Blue accents and sharp lightning-bolt patterns running down the sleeves. Matching blue lettering and numbers reinforce the electric theme, while a rendering of Tampa’s historic Bayshore Balustrade appears inside the hem.

KP’s take: Personally think that logo is horrific. A shoulder patch at best but not a main crest. Same issues as VAN about legibility. Bad.

Chicago Blackhawks

Chicago Blackhawks Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The Chicago Blackhawks’ Hometown Remix jersey introduces a vibrant green base inspired by the city’s Irish heritage and St. Patrick’s Day traditions. The team’s traditional crest remains on the chest, rendered in vintage-style chain-stitch embroidery, while black and cream stripes decorate the sleeves and waist. Gold tomahawk shoulder patches incorporate small white four-leaf clovers, and four embossed six-pointed stars on each sleeve reference Chicago’s city flag. The city’s “I Will” motto appears inside the hem.

KP’s take: I like that they went green. Wouldn’t have hated them to try a different striping pattern with green but otherwise it’s cool. Strong nod to the city so points for doing that part properly.

Buffalo Sabres

Buffalo Sabres Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The Buffalo Sabres’ Hometown Remix jersey combines the team’s popular 1990s Goathead logo with its modern royal blue and gold color scheme. The royal blue sweater features the snarling buffalo crest prominently on the chest, complemented by gold and white striping on the sleeves and waist. Subtle lightning bolts and stars are embossed into the white stripes, referencing Buffalo’s nickname as the City of Light. Updated versions of the franchise’s vintage “B” logo appear on the shoulders.

KP’s take: Looks good. Just feels like something they’ve done multiple times over in different iterations already. I like the city flag detail on the arm striping.

St. Louis Blues

St. Louis Blues Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The St. Louis Blues’ design features a black base inspired by the Mississippi River at night. A circular crest incorporating the Gateway Arch, the team’s musical-note logo, and three river-inspired waves takes center stage. Additional wave patterns are embossed into the black sleeve bands, while metallic silver striping references the stainless-steel exterior of the Gateway Arch. Custom lettering and numbers feature beveled metallic detailing, with another representation of the Arch appearing inside the hem.

KP’s take: The best of the STL/TBL/VAN black and blue bunch. I like the logo and it looks nice in a vacuum.

Philadelphia Flyers

Philadelphia Flyers Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The Philadelphia Flyers’ Hometown Remix jersey honors the city’s historic Liberty Bell with a dark steel-grey base and the franchise’s familiar winged-P crest in orange and cream.

Six orange stripes wrap around the sleeves and waist to celebrate the team’s 60th anniversary, with embossed Liberty Bell inscriptions worked into the darker bands. The player numbers feature crack-inspired textures referencing the bell’s famous fracture, while the inside hem incorporates historic American imagery and constitutional lettering.

KP’s take: Gray jersey do I need to go over this again? The Liberty Bell number treatment is sweet though.

New Jersey Devils

New Jersey Devils Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The New Jersey Devils’ Hometown Remix jersey features a black base with a dramatically enlarged version of the team’s familiar red NJ logo.

For the first time, the logo’s devil horns and tail are presented without their traditional enclosing circle, allowing the emblem to dominate the chest. Angular red sleeve stripes incorporate embossed detailing, while the customized letters and numbers feature sharp cuts and curved shapes inspired by the crest. New Jersey state outlines decorate the inside hem.

KP’s take: It looks cool but it’s boring and how on earth does it really pay homage to the city. It’s just a third jersey fans wanted, so nice but I’m missing the point.

Dallas Stars

Dallas Stars Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The Dallas Stars’ Hometown Remix jersey draws inspiration from the city’s illuminated nighttime skyline.

The predominantly white sweater features the team’s star-shaped crest in black and electric green, with horizontal detailing designed to resemble glowing city lights. Black sleeve and waist bands incorporate geometric patterns inspired by Reunion Tower’s distinctive illuminated dome. Matching black-and-green shoulder patches and a stylized Dallas wordmark inside the hem complete the city-inspired design.

KP’s take: It’s fine but I feel like there’s so much Dallas can do to nod to Texas rather than just going back to that one Neon Green building that they’ve used as inspiration already in the past.

D tier

Vancouver Canucks

Vancouver Canucks Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The Vancouver Canucks’ Hometown Remix jersey embraces a nighttime theme with a deep navy blue base and a subdued version of the team’s orca logo.

The crest is rendered in dark blue tones, highlighted by a bright blue outline and metallic silver eye. Subtle shimmering textures across the sweater evoke city lights reflecting on water, while the sleeves feature embossed impressions of Vancouver’s skyline. Vintage hockey-stick shoulder patches and imagery referencing the Lions Gate Bridge add historical and local touches.

KP’s take: I fear this legitimately will look like a plain black jersey on TV. Dark blue on black is horrible. Vancouver is a cool city with fun recognizable elements, they could’ve done better here.

Winnipeg Jets

Winnipeg Jets Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The Winnipeg Jets’ Hometown Remix jersey captures the beauty of the northern lights with a dark navy base and vibrant blue-to-green gradients.

The team’s traditional circular crest features glowing aurora-inspired colors, while the lower sleeves transition through shades of blue and green to resemble the night sky. Matching gradient effects appear in the lettering and numbers, and a detailed aurora borealis scene stretches across the inside hem, accompanied by the word “MANITOBA.”

KP’s take: The idea of a northern lights jersey is S tier. The execution disappointed me greatly. It just looks like a black and teal jersey from a distance. Could’ve been so much better so it loses points for me.

San Jose Sharks

San Jose Sharks Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The San Jose Sharks’ Hometown Remix jersey celebrates the team’s famous Shark Head entrance at SAP Center with an aggressive, shark-inspired design.

The bright Scuba Blue sweater features the franchise’s secondary SJ logo, depicting a shark swimming through the letters, prominently across the chest. Black lower sleeves are separated by angular white shark-tooth patterns, accented with a narrow salmon-pink stripe representing the gums. A “Shark Tank” inscription and a bitten hockey stick appear inside the hem.

KP’s take: I like the teal but that’s where the list of things I like about this ends. The teeth would’ve been cool but the gums make it look so corny it isn’t even funny. The logo on the front also isn’t a primary crest logo. Bad execution.

F tier

Edmonton Oilers

Edmonton Oilers Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The Edmonton Oilers’ Hometown Remix jersey features a predominantly black design inspired by Alberta’s oil industry.

The team’s circular crest appears in a nearly all-black treatment, with orange outlining emphasizing the Oilers wordmark and oil drop. Oil-splatter textures cover portions of the shoulders and striping, which incorporate orange and grey industrial-inspired accents. The shoulders feature separate Oil Country and vintage oil-worker logos, while an inscription inside the hem reinforces the province’s energy-industry identity.

KP’s take: Don’t see how this has anything to do with Edmonton or the surrounding area. It’s uninspiring and just looks terrible. Not fun or good looking. Boo.

New York Rangers

New York Rangers Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

Liberty biberty! The New York Rangers’ Hometown Remix jersey brings back the beloved Lady Liberty logo as a patch near the heart, while metallic silver accents reference New York City’s architecture.

Red sleeve stripes include textured patterns inspired by the Statue of Liberty’s torch, with additional torch imagery appearing inside the hem. Special captaincy detailing pays tribute to the city’s first responders.

KP’s take: Try to participate at all, fellas. New York City has an unlimited inspiration pool and doing something this boring should be punished.

Detroit Red Wings

Detroit Red Wings Hometown Remix jersey
📸: NHL/Fanatics

The Detroit Red Wings’ Hometown Remix jersey maintains the franchise’s traditional red-and-white appearance while incorporating references to its Hockeytown identity.

The familiar Winged Wheel crest sits beneath a large, arched “HOCKEYTOWN” wordmark across the chest, with classic white striping on the sleeves and waist. A lace-up collar features copper-colored eyelets, while a hidden purple octopus pattern inside the hem honors Detroit’s famous playoff octopus tradition.

KP’s take: Hockeytown more like boringtown. Boom roasted.
