The Caps out-shot the Penguins 30 to 22 and out-attempted them at five-on-five 58 to 47.

The first playoff game post Tom Wilson suspension did not go so well for the Washington Capitals as they fell in Pittsburgh to the Penguins 3-1. A very quiet top line, a better Matt Murray, and a few bad bounces sank the Caps ship in Game Four.
The Penguins out-shot the Caps 24 to 21 and out-attempted them at five-on-five 39 to 36.

Now that was fun. The Washington Capitals went into Pittsburgh and stole Game Three from the Penguins 4-3 with a very late Alex Ovechkin tally after an overall tremendous third period effort. Two more times please, boys.
The Capitals and Penguins both recorded 22 shots on goal, but the Caps won the five-on-five shot attempts battle 34 to 32.

Tom Wilson has a habit of angering anyone associated with the city of Pittsburgh and that habit was on full display in DC Sunday night. During the second period of Game Two, Wilson made contact with the head of Pens defenseman Brian Dumoulin. The hit knocked a woozy Dumoulin out of the game.
Further drawing the ire of Pens fans everywhere, the NHL’s Department of Player Safety ruled that Wilson would not be receiving a hearing for the head contact.
At the Penguins skate Tuesday morning, head coach Mike Sullivan was asked quite the interesting question by a member of the hockey media.

In the first two games of their second round series against the Pittsburgh Penguins in DC, the Washington Capitals will come out with a split series after winning Game Two 4-1. All two goal leads were safe in this one.
The Penguins out-shot the Capitals 33 to 32 and out-attempted them at five-on-five 62 to 51.

In an all too familiar fashion the Washington Capitals dropped Game One of their second round series to the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 at Capital One Arena. The Caps at one point held a two goal lead with 17 minutes left in regulation.
The Caps out-shot the Pens 34 to 25 and out-attempted them at five-on-five 64 to 46.

One down, three to go. I think that’s the mentality that this Capitals team and maybe even its fans should take heading into the second round after downing the Blue Jackets in Game Six 6-3, winning the series.
Yes it’s the Penguins again, yes it’s the second round again, but more importantly they’d be team two of four.
The Blue Jackets out-shot the Caps 38 to 28 and out-attempted them at five-on-five 55 to 30.

Alex Ovechkin predicted that his team would be returning home for Game Five with the series tied at two wins apiece and his prediction came true when the Washington Capitals downed the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-1 at Nationwide Arena in Game Four. Ovi can see the future. I cant remember any other win guarantee in the past that went wrong, it never happened, don’t know what you’re talking about.
The Capitals out-shot the Blue Jackets 33 to 24, but were out-attempted at five-on-five 50 to 45.

There are only so many words to describe the Caps failing in the postseason and I feel like they’ve all been written before by much more eloquent humans. Due to that, I’ll take a pass on trying my hand at it again and just give you one word and that word is numb.
The Columbus Blue Jackets beat the Washington Capitals 5-4 in OT and take a 2-0 series lead. The two teams are now headed to Columbus for the next two games in the series.
The Capitals outshot the Blue Jackets 58 to 30 and out-attempted them at five-on-five 66 to 39.
