The Washington Nationals tried to drink out of the Commissioner’s Trophy after winning the World Series
The Washington Nationals were inspired by the Washington Capitals’ championship win in 2018. Especially their celebrating.
“Finally, we played hockey like we can party,” Nicklas Backstrom said during the Capitals championship parade. During that wonderful moment in DC history, Caps players swam in the fountains of the Georgetown Waterfront, did Cup stands on the Stanley Cup, slept with the championship trophy, and got drunken tattoos.
The Nats, insane partiers in their own right, sang shirtless to Calma, wielded lightsabers, and wore goggles due to all the airborne alcohol. But it was after improbably beating the Los Angeles Dodgers and improbably winning the NLCS where they took on the personality of the Capitals.
The Nationals found a way to drink out of the Warren C. Giles Trophy, using its ramp to funnel dumped alcohol into their mouths.
After winning the World Series, the Nationals tried to drink out of the Commissioner’s Trophy too.
But that was a lot harder.
