Alex Ovechkin moved into second place on the NHL’s all-time goals list after scoring twice against the Winnipeg Jets. Now the moment is being celebrated in bobblehead form.

FOCO has created a new 802 goals bobblehead of Ovechkin that features the Capitals captain in a shooting pose. The bobblehead will be updated to be in the team’s Reverse Retro jersey and mark the first one created of Ovechkin in the team’s black Screaming Eagle sweater.

The bobblehead comes in a limited edition of 802.

NHL Shop releases new merch commemorating The GR8 Chase, Alex Ovechkin’s 802nd goal

Minutes after Alex Ovechkin scored his 802nd career goal to pass Gordie Howe, the NHL released new merchandise celebrating the feat and The GR8 Chase.

Alex Ovechkin has a third chance to tie or pass Gordie Howe against the Red Wings tonight. Howe’s two sons will be in attendance.

Alex Ovechkin will have another opportunity this evening to either tie or pass Gordie Howe to become the second greatest goal-scorer of all time.

Two of Howe’s children, Mark and Marty, will be in attendance at Capital One Arena to hopefully see him do it.

The Capitals will face Gordie Howe’s previous team tonight, the Detroit Red Wings. Ovechkin currently sits at 800 goals, one goal shy of tying Howe’s goal total of 801, and two tallies away from passing it. Howe spent 25 seasons in Detroit and scored 786 of his 801 goals with the team.

Alex Ovechkin’s trademarked ‘The Gr8 Chase’ logo revealed

Alex Ovechkin scored his 800th career NHL goal after netting a hat trick against the Chicago Blackhawks on December 13. Sitting third on the all-time goals list, Ovechkin is now two goals away from zooming past Gordie Howe, leaving only Wayne Gretzky, the NHL’s greatest player, ahead of him.

As Ovechkin’s incredible and improbable climb continues, his marketing team has been working on a “multilayered marketing and business platform” per ESPN’s Emily Kaplan to help generate more interest in the sport and capitalize on his accomplishments.

As first reported by RMNB, Ovechkin trademarked The Gr8 Chase in 2021. The phrase was utilized in officially licensed memorabilia after Ovi passed Jaromir Jagr for third in career goals.

Now, there’s a logo that some might say is sick unbelievable.

Alex Ovechkin wants to break Wayne Gretzky’s goals record the right way. Not as a ‘third-line guy playing 8-10 minutes a game.’

Alex Ovechkin signed a five-year contract extension in the summer of 2021, but according to Capitals’ owner Ted Leonsis, there were conditions and understandings that weren’t technically written in the deal.

While speaking to ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski at the NHL’s Board meeting, Leonsis said that the Capitals would not rebuild the team this season or in the three that follows as Ovechkin chases Wayne Gretzky’s goals record of 894.

Alex Semin wants to travel with Capitals once Alex Ovechkin gets close to Wayne Gretzky’s all-time goals record

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin has eight goals so far in the 2022-23 season to give him 788 in his career. That total leaves him just 107 tallies shy of overtaking Wayne Gretzky for first all-time in NHL history.

With Ovi closing in on the big record and breaking plenty of other records along the way, figures both past and present in his career have been getting asked about The Great Eight’s chase.

Ovi’s good buddy and former Caps winger Alex Semin is the latest to comment as he sat down with Pavel Lysenkov from the Russian outlet Match TV.

No. 778: Alex Ovechkin scores 48th goal of the season, ties Teemu Selanne for most goals by a player age 36 or older

Alex Ovechkin just tied and will likely break a record that may stand for a long time.

Ovechkin scored his 48th goal of the season in the second period against the league-leading Colorado Avalanche.

The goal gave the Capitals an unlikely 2-1 lead.

No. 777: Alex Ovechkin three goals away 50, Sam Montembeault becomes 159th goalie Ovi’s scored on

Alex Ovechkin is now three goals away from his ninth 50-goal season after scoring on Montreal Canadiens goaltender Sam Montembeault.

Ovechkin’s 47th of the season came in the second period to give the Capitals a 4-2 lead over the Habs.

Alex Ovechkin scores from behind the net to tally career goal no. 776

Alex Ovechkin was one of eight different Capitals players to score against the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday. The captain’s first-period goal opened the floodgates for the Capitals who went on to win 9-2.

The goal gave Ovechkin 46 on the season and brings him within four of his ninth 50-goal season in the NHL. If he hits the half-century mark, he would become the first 36 or older player to do so.

Alex Ovechkin beats buzzer to score career goal no. 775 via an empty netter

With a victory sealed, the Washington Capitals entered individual stats mode late in the third period against the Boston Bruins.

Alex Ovechkin, after collecting an unselfish pass from Evgeny Kuznetsov, skated the puck down towards the Bruins’ end and scored an empty-net goal with 0.3 seconds left in the game (or at least that’s what TNT’s sticker during the telecast said). The goal was Ovi’s 45th goal this season and the 775th of his career.

The goal gave the Capitals a 4-2 win over the Bruins, sweeping their weekend back-to-back against two East playoff teams.
