Evgeny Kuznetsov was very excited to ride in a yellow school bus to the Stadium Series game: ‘We don’t have those back home’

The Washington Capitals lost to the Carolina Hurricanes 4-1 in the Stadium Series game. The Capitals’ performance in the game was hard to watch, but there were still several fun moments that were memorable during the weekend, including the team arriving in varsity jackets, Nic Dowd throwing a football with fans in the crowd, and the entire pregame ceremony.

One other moment that was special was Evgeny Kuznetsov’s pure excitement about the team’s mode of transportation to the venue. The Capitals rode in a yellow school bus to Carter-Finley Stadium and got a police escort.

‘It’s not working:’ The Capitals react to their brutal 4-1 Stadium Series loss

After a three-game skid, the Washington Capitals hoped a change of scenery would revitalize the team as they faced the Carolina Hurricanes at NC State’s Carter-Finley Stadium. That did not happen. Instead, the Caps must now reckon with a four-game losing streak during which they have not held a lead.

Following their 4-1 loss to the Canes on Saturday night, Capitals players and head coach Peter Laviolette spoke to the media and tried to explain what went wrong and what this team needs to do moving forward.

“I don’t think concern is the right word,” TJ Oshie said. “I think our playoff hockey probably starts in this next week here, otherwise, we’re gonna be on the outside looking in.”

Capitals drop their fourth game in regulation in a row and they went outside to do it: numbers for the morning after

The Washington Capitals have lost a game outdoors for the first time in franchise history. It wasn’t really a shock because there was a clear level difference between the two teams from the literal second the puck dropped in the 4-1 defeat.

Nosedive city.

Caps lose Stadium Series 4-1 to Canes, utterly pathetic

The Washington Capitals looked snazzy for their big outdoor game against the Carolina Hurricanes. But they played terribly. They got methodically dismantled by a superior team in front of 56,961 fans, a national TV audience, and some clown named Jake Owen.

Two minutes into the game, the Canes scored on their first shot: a deflection from Jesperi Kotkaniemi. The Canes scored three in the second period, starting with Paul Stastny all alone up front, middling with Martin Necas’ one-timer on the power, and lasting with Teuvo Teravainen on the rush.

The Caps played apocalyptically bad in the third period, but Tom Wilson got a goal from no-angle to crack the shutout.

Caps lose 4-1. Awful.

Nic Dowd throws football to fans in crowd before Stadium Series game

With nearly 57,000 fans at NC State’s Carter-Finley Stadium for Saturday night’s Stadium Series game, Nic Dowd got a few of them into some pre-game fun.

Dowd, who remains out of the lineup following an injury during January 16th’s game against the New York Islanders, was spotted tossing a football back and forth with fans near the ice.

Stadium Series live blog: Capitals vs Hurricanes outdoors at Carter-Finley Stadium

This is your place to check for updates and comment along with the Washington Capitals vs Carolina Hurricanes game on February 18, 2023.

The Washington Capitals are playing an absolutely humongous game against the Carolina Hurricanes tonight. Yes, it’s on national television. Yes, it’s the franchise’s fourth outdoor game. And yes, it’s in front of tens of thousands of its own fans.

But the Capitals’ perilous spot in the standings — a point out of the final wild-card spot — makes this outdoor outing a virtual must-win game. If you don’t believe me, I’ll let Capitals center Dylan Strome explain why. The Hurricanes have beaten the Capitals both times they’ve played this season and lead the Metropolitan Division.

The Capitals will once again be without Alex Ovechkin, who is in Russia to be with his family after the death of his father, Mikhail.

Tonight’s game is on ABC at 8 pm. No Joe B or Locker. Here’s all the ways to watch the game.

How to watch the Stadium Series game between the Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes

The Washington Capitals will take on the Carolina Hurricanes at Carter-Finley Stadium on Saturday night. Coverage begins at 8 pm and puck drop will come after pregame intros.

The 2023 Stadium Series game will be nationally televised and can be watched on ABC or via a live stream on ESPN+. Locally, Capitals fans can tune in on the radio via 106.7 The Fan on the FM or Capitals Radio 24/7 online.

The sold-out game marks the Capitals’ fourth foray outdoors. This marks the Carolina Hurricanes’ first game outside and the first outdoor game in the state of North Carolina.

The Capitals arrived to Carter-Finley Stadium on a school bus wearing custom letterman jackets and holding footballs

The 2023 Stadium Series game between the Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes will emanate from the confines of NC State’s Carter-Finley football stadium on Saturday night.

The Caps made sure to dress the part as they arrived at the college sporting venue. They rolled up in a full-on yellow school bus wearing custom letterman jackets and holding footballs.

Mic’d up Tom Wilson at Stadium Series practice: Talks Martin Fehervary’s tan, foot baths, and his wishes of having TJ Oshie’s hands

The NHL had Tom Wilson mic’d up for the Capitals’ Stadium Series practice on Friday. Although the league didn’t exactly get a ton of soundbites from the rugged winger, the ones they did were high quality.

Wilson, who rocked an ‘A’ on his sweater for the team photo earlier in the night, practiced for just the third time since going down with a lower-body injury on January 24. He skated around the rink at NC State’s Carter-Finley Stadium cracking jokes with teammates and commenting on the outdoor conditions.

The Capitals held an adorable family skate after their Stadium Series practice. A juice box even made it out on the ice. 🧃

Following the Washington Capitals’ practice at NC State’s Carter-Finley Stadium Friday night, the team had the opportunity for an outdoor family skate.

Even after the day’s festivities began with a rain delay, the skate was highly attended, with many of the players’ partners and children in attendance.
