Biscuit formally placed as facility dog at Walter Reed, receives honorary designation of Marine Corps Corporal

His name isn’t Biscuit anymore. It’s U.S. Marine Corps Corporal Biscuit. Or Cpl. Biscuit, for short.

Wednesday, the Capitals announced that their precious team pup was formally placed as a facility dog at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

Biscuit recently completed his training and is now the seventh Walter Reed Facility Dog dedicated to easing stress and enhancing the well-being and mental health for patients and staff.

Biscuit attends final Capitals practice, says goodbye to players and coaches

Biscuit, the Capitals’ team dog, attended his final team practice on Monday. The Very Very Good Boy said goodbye to his best buddies at MedStar Capitals Iceplex as he prepares to finish his service dog training through America’s VetDogs.

He will soon graduate and be paired with a veteran in his forever home.

For real this time: It’s Biscuit’s final game with the Washington Capitals

Capitals fans made their bittersweet goodbye Wednesday night, as Biscuit attended his final home game as the official team dog. A service dog in training through America’s VetDogs, Biscuit will soon graduate and be paired with a veteran for his forever home.

Biscuit, who recently dropped the ceremonial first puck on Caps Canine Night, received a sendoff from the Capitals organization during the team’s game against the New York Islanders.

It was previously announced that Biscuit’s final game would be Caps Canine Night, but he got to spend a few more weeks with the team and its fans.

Capitals team dog, Biscuit, drops ceremonial first puck on Caps Canine Night as his graduation nears

Unfortunately, traded players, Dmitry Orlov and Garnet Hathaway, aren’t the only Capitals we have to begin saying goodbye to tonight.

Capitals’ team dog Biscuit is nearing his graduation from the team and his training program. Thursday, “Caps Canines Night” was one of Biscuit’s final games as team dog at Capital One Arena.

As the senior dog at the event, the Capitals gave Biscuit the honor of doing the ceremonial puck drop, and it’s too cute not to see.

Alex Ovechkin and Capitals team dog, Biscuit, were very happy to see each other

The Washington Capitals have a matinee game today at 4 pm against the Montreal Canadiens. The early start could prove to be tough for players, who began arriving at Capital One Arena around the time they’re usually napping for 7 pm games.

To help matters, they were given a pure shot of adrenaline by the team dog, Biscuit, as soon as they began walking down the hallway to the locker room.

The pup greeted every player and was especially happy to see Alex Ovechkin when he arrived to the rink.

The 2023 Capitals Canine Calendar, AKA the perfect holiday gift, is now officially on sale

The Washington Capitals announced on Wednesday that their 2023 Caps Canine Calendar is now available for purchase. This year’s calendar features photos of 27 different players posing with either their dogs or rescues. Biscuit, the Capitals team service dog in training is also featured.

Proceeds from sales of the calendar will benefit Wolf Trap Animal Rescue and Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation.

Our pics from the 2022 Caps Canine Calendar photoshoot

Tuesday afternoon, Medstar Capitals Iceplex was invaded by an army of heckin’ good boys and an unbelievably adorable floof named Arthur for the annual Capitals Canine Calendar photoshoot.

To raise money and awareness for less fortunate animals, the Capitals partnered with Wolf Trap Animal Rescue to produce this year’s canine calendar. This year’s edition will be available for purchase later this year for $20 and the proceeds will benefit both WTAR and the MSE Foundation.

Like in years past, some players brought their families and pets to participate, while others were matched with some of WTAR’s rescue animals.

The creative directors for this year’s shoot were Taylor Wilson, Annie van Riemsdyk, and Paige Dowd. They helped coordinate the shots throughout the day and somehow managed to maintain order in all of the chaos.

All the cuddly and furry cuteness from Capitals Canine Night

The Washington Capitals hosted Capitals Canine Night on Monday at Capital One Arena. And you guys, it wasn’t just a feel-good promotion to sell tickets and get butts in seats (which it was successful in doing).

The promotion was also a multi-pronged activation inside the arena that had — metaphorically speaking — a lot of juicy, steak-flavored treats to it. Like players holding tiny, adorable, adoptable puppies!!!

ESPN ranks Caps’ Pup as top hockey dog: ‘Biscuit truly has it all’

Since being introduced by the Capitals in September, Biscuit has been number one in our hearts. Now he’s the top dog in an ESPN ranking.

Tuesday, the Sports Leader released a top 10 list of the NHL’s top hockey dogs. Biscuit was first due to his versatility and overwhelming cute factor.
