Alex Ovechkin scores 822nd career goal in loss to Penguins

The Washington Capitals suffered a devastating, nationally-televised loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday after an a thrilling comeback in the third period. Of course, Alex Ovechkin was a part of the scoring.

Ovechkin scored one of the Capitals’ three consecutive goals in the third period before an Anthony Mantha giveaway to Evgeni Malkin ended it.

Ovi’s goal, his 42nd of the season, came on a Capitals’ power play, bringing Washington within one with 6:42 remaining.

Alex Ovechkin scores 821st career goal via an unassisted breakaway goal on Anton Khudobin

Alex Ovechkin put an exclamation point on the Capitals’ 6-1 victory over the lowly Chicago Blackhawks, Thursday.

Ovechkin picked off a Seth Jones shot from the point, springing himself on a breakaway. The Capitals captain raced in all alone on Anton Khudobin and beat the Russian netminder on his backhand.

The goal was Ovi’s 821st of his illustrious career.

Alex Ovechkin scores on Gr802 Night and passes Wayne Gretzky for most 40-goal seasons in NHL history

Alex Ovechkin just can’t stop breaking records.

The Capitals’ captain scored his 40th goal of the season Tuesday night, mere minutes after the ceremony honoring his 802nd goal which put him past Gordie Howe for second place on the all-time goal-scoring list had concluded. Ovechkin now has 13 total 40-goal seasons in his career, passing Wayne Gretzky for the most in NHL history.

Alex Ovechkin scores 817th career goal, now within 77 of Wayne Gretzky

Alex Ovechkin was held out of Tuesday’s New York Rangers game due to a lower-body injury. A night later, the Russian machine was back, done with his figurative oil change, and ready to resume doing Ovi Things.

The Capitals captain scored in the third period to bring the Capitals within one (4-3) of the Buffalo Sabres. Ovechkin’s tally was one of three the team scored in the period — Evgeny Kuznetsov and Tom Wilson were the other goal scorers — to force overtime. The Caps eventually won in the shootout 5-4.

Alex Ovechkin tallies 814th and 815th career goals, Kaapo Kahkonen becomes 168th goalie Ovi’s scored on

Alex Ovechkin’s night started off quiet, but by the end, he had his first multi-goal game in 60 days.

Ovechkin scored two consecutive goals late in the third period against the San Jose Sharks to help the Caps win 8-3.

The goals were Ovi’s 814th and 815th career goals of his career. He now trails Wayne Gretzky by 79 goals. The lamp lighters were also Ovechkin’s 34th and 35th goals of the season.

Alex Ovechkin looks to sky after scoring first goal since his father Mikhail passes away

Alex Ovechkin got back on the scoreboard on Sunday against the Sabres and scored his first goal in exactly a month.

Alex Ovechkin got Wayne Gretzky “a gift” on The Great One’s 62nd birthday.

Set up in his office, Ovechkin scored his 32nd goal of the season and his tenth PPG of the year.

The goal was Ovechkin’s 812th career goal.

Alex Ovechkin scores 811th career goal, now trails Wayne Gretzky by 83

The Washington Capitals trailed the defending champion Colorado Avalanche 3-1 in the third period. A rocket by the Caps’ captain brought the team within one.

Ovechkin scored the goal via a wicked one-timer from the left circle while both teams skated five-on-five. Avs’ goaltender Alexandar Georgiev surrendered the goal.

The tally was Ovechkin’s 811th of his career.
