Win or lose, the Carolina Hurricanes will do their last Storm Surge of the season tonight against the Capitals

This season, the Carolina Hurricanes have typically reserved their Storm Surge celebrations only for wins.

But Canes captain Justin Williams announced that tonight would be the final Storm Surge of the season, win or lose.

“Regardless of the outcome tonight, this will be our last storm surge of the season,” Williams explained. “It has been an absolute treat celebrating victories with our @NHLCanes fans and muddying up the waters a little bit. We’ve created a buzz again in Carolina but we know ultimately we’ve done that by winning games and playing for each other. Huge games are coming up for us. See you out there #TakeWarning.”

Williams and the Canes started the Storm Surge earlier this season, and it started with just overhead clapping and body slamming into plexiglass.

Since then, the celebrations have transformed. They’ve included kayaking, dominos, bowling, Duck Duck Goose, limbo, fighting Evander Holyfield, curling, and playing duck hunt. Most recently, they took March Madness to heart and played basketball on the ice.

Even their dads got in on the fun.

They’ve been called a “bunch of jerks” by Don Cherry, then not only embraced the nickname with shirts, they skated out onto a projection of the moniker.

And the cool part? The Canes could make the playoffs for the first time in 10 years, and currently, have the first wildcard spot locked up.

Update: After the Hurricanes’ 3-2 loss, they did not do a storm surge.
