Carolina Hurricanes Dads are getting into the Storm Surge craze too

The Carolina Hurricanes’ postgame celebrations have captivated the NHL and galvanized a fanbase that has watched its favorite team struggle over the last few seasons.

Nicknamed “Storm Surges”, the Hurricanes have collected cool points like Mario collects coins by playing Duck Duck Goose, doing the limbo, going bowling, and turning into hockey-player dominoes.

But now those Storm Surges are being put to the test. Are these team cellys still cool if Dad does them?

The answer is: I’m not so sure.

Over the weekend, the Hurricanes were joined by their fathers during the team’s annual Mentors’ Trip. The Hurricanes won both games, but it’s what happened afterward that has everyone talking.

The Hurricanes’ Dads flossed together.

Yikes!

James van Riemsdyk, brother of Carolina Hurricane Trevor van Riemsdyk, was very concerned.

But that wasn’t it. The dads also played Hide and Go Seek while sitting in their suite.

This is very funny to me.

All this winning and celebrating is working out great for the Hurricanes. Saturday, they leaped past the Pittsburgh Penguins in the standings to reclaim the second wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference.

Our only advice: let’s maybe not dab.
