The Capitals sent TJ Oshie’s father, who is battling Alzheimer’s, a jersey after not being able to attend Mentors’ Trip
TJ Oshie’s father Tim, affectionately known as Coach, was unable this year to join the Capitals’ Mentors’ Trip due to his ongoing battle with Alzheimer’s disease. But that’s okay, the Capitals brought the Mentors’ Trip to him.
During the Capitals-Blue Jackets game, the Caps Dads’ did a FaceTime call with Tim back at home in Washington state. “Cheers, Coach!” they said. “We love ya!”
Friday night, Tim revealed on his social media accounts that the Capitals also sent him a new jersey that had his son’s number 77 stitched on the back – the same one he would have gotten if he could have been able to go on the trip.
He was very thankful.
