It appears Brett Connolly will indeed be leaving the Washington Capitals.
According to reports by Edmonton Oilers radio analyst Bob Stauffer and The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun, Connolly is expected to sign a four-year deal with the Florida Panthers on Monday, July 1, the first day of unrestricted free agency.
The deal is expected to be worth $3.5 million per season.
The 2019 NHL Draft begins on Friday, June 21 in Vancouver. The first round will be broadcast on Friday night and the following six rounds will all be squeezed in on Saturday. Later draft picks basically get the same treatment as technical awards at the Golden Globes.

Washington Capitals general manager Brian MacLellan made a rare appearance in front of the media on Thursday to discuss all the happenings of the team from injuries to the NHL Draft.
The most interesting part of the discussion came when Mac took questions on the team’s philosophy on moves this summer and beyond. The Capitals have a glut of middle and bottom six forwards that are free agents including Jakub Vrana, Andre Burakovsky, Brett Connolly, and Devante Smith-Pelly. Braden Holtby and Nicklas Backstrom are also unrestricted free agents the summer of 2021 and can begin negotiations on a new deal as soon as July 1.

Brett Connolly celebrated his 27th birthday over the weekend and Devante Smith-Pelly was there for the festivities.
Smith-Pelly documented the party with two pieces of media on his Instagram Story.

The Washington Capitals lost TJ Oshie in Game Four to injury, but they got revenge in Game Five.
The Capitals scored six goals in front of their raucous home crowd, shutting out the Carolina Hurricanes 6-0.

Right winger Brett Connolly will miss Saturday night’s match-up against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He is the fourth Capitals player to miss playing time due to illness recently after Carl Hagelin, Evgeny Kuznetsov, and TJ Oshie.
Connolly missed the morning skate and head coach Todd Reirden said he would be a game-time decision.

Like a band on tour, the Caps flu bug has landed at its latest venue: Brett Connolly’s body.
Connolly missed the Capitals’ morning skate on Saturday and will be a game-time decision against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Conno is the fourth Caps player to miss time due to this illness including Carl Hagelin, Evgeny Kuznetsov, and TJ Oshie. Hagelin and Oshie both missed games.
Loyal friend and slacker icon Brett Connolly‘s electrifying (contract-year) season continues unabated. Facing the Hurricanes on the road on Thursday, hockey’s oldest 26-year-old recorded the prettiest and smartest goal of the season.
