Last summer, after the Caps won the Stanley Cup, Caps forward Brett Connolly said he would not visit the Trump White House. “It has nothing to do with politics,” Connolly said. “It’s about what’s right and wrong.”
On Tuesday, after scoring his twentieth goal of the season, Connolly said he stands by that decision.

The Capitals announced on Wednesday morning that their next blood drive will be held on April 6 from 7AM to 5PM at MedStar Capitals Iceplex.
Fans who donate will receive a t-shirt and a bobblehead of Capitals forward Brett Connolly.
No word on if the bobblehead will also be eating pizza.

The Washington Capitals had an embarrassing start against the NHL’s very worst team. The Ottawa Senators, who traded Mark Stone (Vegas), Matt Duchene (Columbus) and Ryan Dzingel (Columbus) ahead of Monday’s trade deadline, scored twice in the first 7:16 of the game, not allowing the Caps a shot on goal for nearly the first 10 minutes of the game (9:53, Andre Burakovsky). Yiiiiikes.
The Capitals responded by scoring seven unanswered goals, including four joker tallies in the second period.
What turned the game around? “Well, we decided as a group we’re going to get engaged in the game,” Capitals assistant coach Scott Arniel said, failing to hide his sarcasm. “We were spectators there for the first ten, fifteen minutes. You know what? In this league, if you don’t put the work in, those things are going to happen. But you saw what happened here. We got a little ticked off and got some goals.”
Yes, yes they did. And now I will recap them all for you.
The success of the Washington Capitals’ third line — Lars Eller, Brett Connolly, and Andre Burakovsky — was crucial in the team’s first Stanley Cup win. Connolly scored six goals during that playoff run, while Burakovsky scored twice in Game Seven of the Eastern Conference Final. Lars Eller scored the Cup-winning goal.
Coming into the 2018-19 season, expectations were high for the trio, but they have struggled to repeat their past dominance. Yet, in Saturday’s overtime loss to the Florida Panthers, the Caps’ third line gave its best performance of the season.

Tuesday, longtime Capitals fan Tyler Duchaine went over 1,000 retweets on a crowd-sourced Twitter post, locking him in on getting a tattoo of Brett Connolly… eating pizza… while getting a tattoo. And because the internet is just the best, Duchaine even got a retweet from Caps forward Devante Smith-Pelly.
Tuesday, before the Capitals suited up against the Philadelphia Flyers, Smith-Pelly spoke to NBC Sports Washington’s Alan May about Duchaine’s tattoo.
He really wants to see it happen.

Monday, Tyler tweeted that if the tweet posted below got 10,000 retweets, he would get a tattoo of Brett Connolly nomming on a piece of pizza while getting a tattoo.

Monday afternoon, the Washington Capitals made their annual visit to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Donning their red home jerseys and Christmas-themed hats, the players interacted with children, while signing autographs and taking photos.
“It’s just about whatever [kids] want us to do,” John Carlson said to the Capitals about the annual event. “As much or as little as they want us to participate in things. Whatever we can do to bring smiles – that’s our focus.”
