Before the Stanley Cup Final kicks off, The Tonight Show’s Jimmy Fallon graced us all with another round of his popular NHL Superlatives segment.
This time, Fallon covered players from only the two final teams which gave us more superlatives for Capitals players including Alex Ovechkin, Braden Holtby, Jay Beagle, Jakub Vrana, Brett Connolly, and Philipp Grubauer.
Fallon opened up by introducing Vrana as “most likely to be the love child of Ryan Gosling and Stewie Griffin”. He followed up calling Vrana a “very handsome baby”. I can’t dispute this.
Next on the list is Ovechkin, who has been profiled in Fallon’s NHL Superlatives segment before. This time, he was voted “most likely to tell his barber, ‘I’m not angry, just disappointed'”.
Of course, Fallon had to play fair and poke fun at some Vegas Golden Knights players. First up on the roster is goalie Marc-Andre Fleury. He was voted “most likely to get caught in a locker room inflating his torso with a bike pump”. Never thought about it until right now, but his head does look remarkably small in the picture.
Turning back to Washington, Fallon has Connolly voted as “most likely to have been told by the photographer, ‘maybe let’s try one where you don’t smile?'” That is cold.
Ryan Reaves was next up for the Golden Knights and voted “most likely to escort you out of the club even though he doesn’t work there”.
Holtby was voted “most likely to comb his neck”. Probably, but come on. Proper hygiene is important when your beard becomes too strong because you’re doing so well in the post-season.
Next up, Fallon voted Beagle as “most likely to say ‘pop quiz! when’s my birthday?’ then tickle you when you’re wrong”.
Bringing home the superlatives for the Capitals players is Grubauer. He was voted, “most likely to eat the same rock a couple different times.” I didn’t quite understand this one and yet it oddly works?
Finally, for the Vegas Golden Knights, Erik Haula who was voted “Donald Trump Jr., Junior.”
Oof!
