Falling behind three goals to none due to some unfortunate penalties and a flagging penalty kill, the Caps looked flat in the second period, but after a TV timeout the team starting putting offense together. Then, Matt Niskanen began a series that ended with the puck behind Andrei Vasilevskiy.
Matt Niskanen beat Ondrej Palat along the blue line to get the puck up to Chandler Stephenson. Stephenson wasted no time in moving it over to Connolly in the Ovi Spot.
One timer and in, giving Connolly his fourth goal of the playoffs. The crowd goes wild, but there’s a lot more work to do.
