Capitals players host holiday party for DC families

On Wednesday night, Nic Dowd, Chandler Stephenson, Brett Connolly, and Pheonix Copley hosted a holiday party at Medstar Capitals Iceplex for local families.

The party was held in conjunction with Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation’s Family-to-Family program. The program was created by the Washington Wizards 22 years ago to spread holiday happiness to underserved families in the DC area.

At the event, families were able to play street hockey with the Capitals players, interact with Santa, meet Slapshot, and participate in face painting, caricature drawings, and get a balloon animal.

The gifts distributed to the families were purchased in November when Capitals and Wizards wives and girlfriends, along with Mystics player Natasha Cloud, went on a shopping spree at Walmart. Over 100 adults and children will receive a Christmas gift thanks to this program.
