Washington Capitals’ 2023 preseason schedule released

After missing the playoffs for the first time in nine years, the Washington Capitals will look to reclaim their lost mojo in 2023-24, featuring a brand new head coach, a different cast of characters, and a rebranded network.

The team’s latest attempt at Lord Stanley’s Cup will begin on Sunday, September 24 when the team will take on the Buffalo Sabres at Capital One Arena for their first preseason game of the year.

The team will play six games, including two matchups against the Columbus and Detroit.

Alex Ovechkin scores in the preseason for the first time in four years

Alex Ovechkin seemingly scores at will in the regular season and playoffs. But on Wednesday, he did something goal-scoring-wise that he hasn’t done since shortly after the Capitals won their first Stanley Cup in 2018.

Ovi scored an actual goal in the preseason!

Alex Ovechkin will make preseason debut against Devils

The Washington Capitals will play their second game of the preseason on Wednesday and several of the team’s biggest stars will get a jersey.

Against the Devils, Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin will make his preseason debut and skate with teammates Evgeny Kuznetsov and Anthony Mantha, which appears to be Washington’s new-look first-line heading into the season. Meanwhile, Ilya Samsonov will make his first appearance in goal of the new year.

TJ Oshie and Jakub Vrana tally two goals apiece as Caps take down Hurricanes in rather rough preseason finale

The final preseason game has come and gone (thankfully) and your Washington Capitals won it against their most recent postseason foe, the Carolina Hurricanes.

Caps get handed their first loss of the preseason by the Blues, their opening night opponent

The penultimate Capitals preseason game featured another matchup with the St. Louis Blues and this time a loss for the good guys, their first of the preseason in five tries.

Capitals jump all over the Blackhawks, remain undefeated in the preseason

Your latest in Caps hockey action came against the Windy City’s Blackhawks who were downed by the Caps early on in the preseason and downed once again late in the preseason.

Brian Pinho’s two goals lead Capitals past Hurricanes in 3-2 win

The Washington Capitals played their final preseason game at home on Saturday, defeating the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 in front of a loud crowd at Capital One Arena. The Caps, sporting a mishmash lineup of veterans and Hershey Bears regulars, received a stellar outing by Ilya Samsonov who was credited with the win.

Brian Pinho was the first star of the night after scoring twice, including a very ugly game-winning goal. Brett Leason also scored.

Newcomers score in Caps preseason victory over defending champion Blues

The past two Stanley Cup Champions met in an intense (not) preseason hockey match in which your 2018 champion Caps came out on top 3-2.

Your Caps goal scorers were a couple of newcomers and an old, friendly face. Noted sniper, Radko Gudas, Richard Panik, and Nicklas Backstrom with a bounce pass from the blue line.

Reminder: Tom Wilson will never play against the St. Louis Blues in the preseason again

On Monday, Tom Wilson donned the A and suited up against the Chicago Blackhawks with a roster made up mostly of Capitals rookies. Here’s one of the reasons why: he refuses to play against the St. Louis Blues in the preseason. The Capitals will face the Blues twice in the preseason this year, leaving Wilson eligible to play in just four games.

With the Capitals taking on the Blues on Wednesday, Andy Strickland, the Blues Rinkside Reporter for Fox Sports Midwest, reiterated Wilson’s comments to him from the 2018-19 season.

Alex Ovechkin to make preseason debut against St Louis Blues on Wednesday

Birthday boy Alex Ovechkin has decided it’s been too long since you’ve seen him play. The Washington Capitals announced on Tuesday evening that the captain will make his preseason debut against the Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues at home on Wednesday night.

The Caps have shared the projected roster for the game.
