    Capitals announce 2019 preseason schedule

    Days after a few dates were announced through other teams, the Washington Capitals have announced their full preseason schedule.

    The Capitals will play six games against three opponents. Three of those games will be at Capital One Arena.

    The next Capitals home game will be the team’s preseason opener on September 16 against the Chicago Blackhawks, 91 days away.

    The Caps will play two games against the Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues.

    ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have released their 2019-20 preseason schedule, senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today. The schedule will feature six games against three opponents and will include three games at Capital One Arena.

    The Capitals will open their preseason schedule against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sept. 16 at Capital One Arena, which will start a three game preseason homestand through Sept. 21. Washington will then face Chicago at United Center on Sept. 25, followed by a visit to the St. Louis Blues on Sept. 27. The Capitals will then travel to face the Carolina Hurricanes on Sept. 29 to conclude their preseason.

    The Capitals were 2-3-2 in the preseason in 2018-19 and their all-time preseason record is 165-127-33-16.

    The full preseason broadcast schedule and the complete 2019-20 NHL regular season schedule will be released at a later date.
