The Washington Capitals recently published a video of Zdeno Chara chatting with Evgeny Kuznetsov during practice. Seconds later, Chara unexpectedly did Kuznetsov’s bird celly.
Kuzy was asked about the moment during a Russian language interview with Sport24’s Alena Grebenkova.

A popular saying goes you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but it does not apply to 43-year-old Zdeno Chara, the oldest player in the National Hockey League.
On Thursday, Chara and Evgeny Kuznetsov, who looked like a father and son during a free skate, appeared to talk about goal cellys while warming up around the rink.
And then… it happened.
Zdeno Chara played the 1,565th game of his career this afternoon against the Philadelphia Flyers.
The 43-year-old surpassed long-time Detroit Red Wing Nicklas Lidstrom for the fifth-most games played by a defenseman in NHL history.

(Though, in his defense, he spent the last 15 years playing for the Bruins.)

Zdeno Chara let Evgeny Kuznetsov use one of his sticks before a training camp practice in mid-January.
“Just don’t break it,” Chara said. “I don’t have enough.”
A few weeks later, Chara’s new shipment of twigs arrived in the United States, but not at the right address. Ariel Ben-Abraham, of the clothing business Create Supply, was delivered Chara’s sticks by accident.
He lives in New Jersey.

The Washington Capitals will play the Boston Bruins again Monday night in a rematch from Saturday. The Capitals will continue to be without several of their stars and important depth pieces.
Evgeny Kuznetsov and Ilya Samsonov remain on the COVID Unavailability List for a 12th consecutive day. Lars Eller and Justin Schultz will again not play due to injury.
On the lines front, Peter Laviolette made several notable changes.
For the first time in fifteen years, defender Zdeno Chara was playing against the Boston Bruins instead of for them.
But late in the first period, Chara took a puck to the face and left the game.
UPDATE, 7:58 PM: Good news. Chara is back for the second period.

There were a lot of remarkable things that happened during the Capitals’ 6-3 comeback win over the New York Islanders on Thursday. The Capitals came back from a 3-0 deficit, scored six unanswered goals, and found a way to win despite many of their star players being out. But it was the Capitals’ fifth goal of the evening that was special and something you’ll never forget. It was so remarkable that it gave the game a season-defining feel.
Late in the second period, 43-year-old Zdeno Chara scored on a rocket from the point, giving him his first goal as a Capital. Chara turned to the bench to celebrate and was quickly engulfed by literally everyone on the team in a giant goal hug.

When the Washington Capitals walked out for the second period, they were down 3-0. When left the ice for the second intermission, they were up 5-3 after authoring an insane comeback.
Zdeno Chara scored the final goal of the period — his first as a Capital — after ripping a shot from the point and cleanly beating an overwhelmed Semyon Varlamov.
What happened next was the best moment of the Capitals’ 2020-21 season so far.

Someone pinch me. This can’t be real.
In the first period, the Washington Capitals looked listless. Awful, terrible, and dreadful. They gave up three consecutive goals to the Islanders and looked like they would finally lose their first game in regulation this season.
Instead, our Cardiac Caps found their scoring touch at intermission and scored f i v e goals during the period they suck at the most — the second — to take the lead.
