For those of you who like violence in your hockey, there was a lot of hacking, whacking, and face-punching in the Boston Bruins-Tampa Bay Lightning game, Saturday night.
In the second period, there was an all-out line brawl after Anthony Cirelli cross-checked future Hall of Famer Zdeno Chara to the ice from behind.
NESN’s Jack Edwards, who’s notorious for his homerific and over-the-top commentating, had the call.
“Maroon wants to go. Of course! All right, all right, it’s time to settle things down” Edwards said. “Kuraly man-handles Killorn. YOU TAKE YOUR HAVARD DEGREE AND TAKE IT TO THE HOSPITAL.
“And Chara’s squaring off with Maroon saying, ‘Do you want to see the afterlife? I’ll take you there.'”
Maroon, of course, easily tackled Chara to the ice.
In total, the melee featured somehow only 32 penalty minutes and three misconducts.
Earlier in the period, Chris Wagner decisively defeated Barclay Goodrow in a fight.
The Tampa Bay Lightning would end up winning the showdown 5-3 to close the Bruins’ Atlantic Division lead to seven points.
