Alex Ovechkin was mic’d up for his goal that broke Wayne Gretzky’s record for most 40-goal seasons

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin was honored for passing Gordie Howe in career goals before Tuesday’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. During the game, Ovechkin broke one of the records of the next guy he is trying to track down.

With his first-period tally, Ovi passed Wayne Gretzky for the most 40-goal seasons in NHL history. The Caps had The Great Eight mic’d up for the occasion.

Mic’d up Tom Wilson at Stadium Series practice: Talks Martin Fehervary’s tan, foot baths, and his wishes of having TJ Oshie’s hands

The NHL had Tom Wilson mic’d up for the Capitals’ Stadium Series practice on Friday. Although the league didn’t exactly get a ton of soundbites from the rugged winger, the ones they did were high quality.

Wilson, who rocked an ‘A’ on his sweater for the team photo earlier in the night, practiced for just the third time since going down with a lower-body injury on January 24. He skated around the rink at NC State’s Carter-Finley Stadium cracking jokes with teammates and commenting on the outdoor conditions.

Alex Ovechkin tied Gordie Howe for second place on the NHL’s all-time goals list in front of home fans at Capital One Arena.

The Capitals had Ovechkin mic’d up for the moment.

Mic’d up Evgeny Kuznetsov had no idea Alex Ovechkin hit 1400 point milestone, thinks ‘WILLY’S FRESH!’

Our bird son Evgeny Kuznetsov was mic’d up for TNT’s national telecast of the Capitals-Lightning game on Wednesday. Kuzy was his normal entertaining self, but perhaps not in the way you’d predict.

Sure, there was both coherent and incoherent yelling, but the most entertaining part of the segment was the Russian center’s discussion with referees about Alex Ovechkin’s milestone goal puck.

Nicklas Backstrom was mic’d up for his goal that brought thousands of N1KY apples onto the ice

Washington Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom was honored for his 1,000th career point before Saturday’s game against the New Jersey Devils. During the game, Backstrom scored in the third period to give his team the lead, and raining down from the heavens came the giveaway NIKY apples handed out to fans before the game.

The Capitals mic’d Nicke up for the festivities and caught the goal celebration as well as the ensuing chaos that thousands of foam apples falling from the sky caused.

Alex Ovechkin was mic’d up during the game he scored his milestone 767th goal

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin scored career goal number 767 on Tuesday against the New York Islanders. The goal made Ovi the new third-highest goal scorer in NHL history as he leaped above the legendary Jaromir Jagr.

The Capitals mic’d Ovi up for the game. Not only did they catch the historic goal and its ensuing celebration, but everything else in-between.

Mic’d up videos reveal Hendrix Lapierre and Vincent Iorio’s blossoming bromance

A bromance of sorts is blossoming at Capitals Camp between Washington’s top two picks from the past two drafts. Hendrix Lapierre and Vincent Iorio are buddies that have spent time together in the Team Canada Junior system and that relationship has only continued now as teammates in the same NHL organization.

The Capitals released two mic’d up videos during Rookie Camp, one featuring Iorio and the other Lapierre.

Hijinks ensued.

Capitals’ mic’d up video of TJ Oshie shows just how frantic and ridiculous he is in warmups

What’s weirder than seeing the Capitals skating around in green jerseys? Hearing what TJ Oshie actually sounds like during warmups where he is an Energizer Bunny full of superstitions, celebrations, and howdys to his coworkers.

The Capitals posted a mic’d up video of Oshie from warmups of Friday’s game against the New York Rangers: the final game of Tom Wilson’s suspension.

By the end, you’re left shaking your head and somehow adoring the star forward even more.

Evgeny Kuznetsov, AKA Bald Kuzy, was mic’d up for Game Four.

Kuznetsov is one of the biggest characters in the NHL and the video continues to bolster that case.

In mic’d up video, Brenden Dillon shows just how important communication is for a defenseman

Brenden Dillon is a uniquely wordy hockey player. He’s revealing and expansive in interviews with the press. And he brings that communication onto the rink too.

Several days ago, the Capitals mic’d up their trade deadline acquisition before Game One of their first-round series against the New York Islanders. During drills, Dillon can be heard commanding play behind the net, which then in turn helps speed up breakouts.
