On Monday October 14, the Washington Nationals clinched their first ever National League Championship, punching their ticket to the 2019 World Series for the first time in franchise history. It will be the first World Series hosted in the District of Columbia since 1933.
Prior to their game on Friday October 18 against the New York Rangers, the Capitals will honor the Nats’ accomplishment, with star pitcher Max Scherzer participating in a ceremonial puck drop.

The Capitals will be arriving in style to Capital One Arena prior to their home opener on October 5th.
For the fifth consecutive year, the team will be hosting a “Rock the Red Carpet” event prior to their season-opening game against the Carolina Hurricanes. From approximately 4-5:30, the entire 2019-20 team, escorted by pre-selected fans, will walk the red carpet to the arena, taking photos and signing autographs with fans.

The NHL on Wednesday morning announced a partnership with clothing company Tailored Brands. Starting on Ocotober 2, fans will be able to purchase suits, sport coats, formal jackets, and vests and have them lined with prints representing their favorite NHL team.

Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin will soon have another award to add to his growing collection.
Wednesday morning USA Hockey announced that Ovi will be the 2019 recipient of the Wayne Gretzky International Award. This award, which was first given out in 1999, “pays tribute to international individuals who have made major contributions to the growth and advancement of hockey in the United States.”

During the offseason, a second round of renovations was started at Capital One Arena. The main focus of these “Phase II” upgrades were enhancements to the video displays in and around the arena, as well as further concession upgrades and a facelift for the 200 level.
While many of the upgrades, such as the full scope of the LED “sky ring” boards, aren’t quite ready to go just yet, fans attending tonight’s first preseason game against Chicago will get a first look at the brand spanking new jumbotron.

The Washington Capitals have announced their promotional schedule and special theme nights for the 2019-20 season. For the first year ever, the Caps will be hosting “College Series Nights.”
The popular promotion, which has been utilized locally by the Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles, includes a one-of-a-kind Capitals hat in a school’s colors (when fans purchase special College Series Night tickets). Participating universities include schools in Virginia and DC. The University of Maryland is the lone MD-State school to be included.
