Traffic advisory: Cherry Blossom Parade to complicate travel ahead of Game Two

On Saturday, April 13, the Washington Capitals will face off in Game Two of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series with the Carolina Hurricanes at 3 pm.

On the same afternoon, the Cherry Blossom Parade and Emancipation Day Celebrations will be taking place in the District as well. The Capitals are advising fans attending the game to be aware of parking and traffic restrictions around Capital One Arena.

Via the Caps, here are the traffic restrictions taking place on Saturday due to the Cherry Blossom Festival and Emancipation Day festivities:

The following streets will be closed and posted as Emergency No Parking for the Cherry Blossom Parade from approximately 3 am to 4 pm:

Constitution Ave. from 7th St., NW to 10th St., NW

4th St. and 7th St. from Constitution Ave., NW, to Independence Ave., SW

The following streets will be posted as Emergency No Parking from 3 am to 4 pm and closed from approximately 9 am to 3 pm for the Cherry Blossom Parade:

9th St. between Pennsylvania Ave., NW and Constitution Ave., NW

Constitution Ave., NW from 7th to 23rd St., NW

10th St. between Pennsylvania Ave., NW and Constitution Ave., NW

12th St. between Pennsylvania Ave., NW and Independence Ave., SW

SE/SW Freeway-Access to 12th St. Tunnel from I-395 ramp

14th St. between North Pennsylvania Ave., NW to Independence Ave., SW

Inbound I-395(14th St. Bridge). All traffic will be sent eastbound on I-395 SW Freeway

17th St. between New York Ave., NW and Independence Ave., SW

19th St. between E St., NW and Constitution Ave., NW

Virginia Ave., NW between 20th St., NW and Constitution Ave., NW

The following streets will be closed and posted as No Emergency Parking on Saturday, April 13 from 7 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. for the Emancipation Day Celebration concert and event at Freedom Plaza. The concert is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.

E St., NW from 13th St., NW to 14th St., NW

Pennsylvania Ave., NW from 12th St., NW to 14th St., NW

13th St., NW from E St., NW to Pennsylvania Ave., NW

The following streets will be closed and posted as Emergency No Parking from approximately 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the Emancipation Day parade staging area:

10th St., NW between E St., NW and Constitution Ave., NW

The following streets will be closed from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for the Emancipation Day Parade. The Parade is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.

Pennsylvania Ave., NW from 9th St., NW to 12th St., NW

10th St., NW between E St., NW and Constitution Ave., NW

11th St., NW between E St., NW and Pennsylvania Ave., NW

12th St., NW between E St., NW and Constitution Ave., NW

Fans who will be rocking the red at Capital One Arena are being encouraged to arrive early, and if possible, take public transportation.
