The Carolina Hurricanes have been sent up to Washington, DC to face the Capitals in Game One of their Stanley Cup Playoff Series. The Capitals and the Hurricanes have never faced each other in the playoffs. The Capitals swept the Canes this year in all four games, and currently have a total record against them of 86-62-12. Fingers crossed that the home ice advantage will give the Capitals the first win of the series.
Everything is happening so much and so fast. Let’s go Caps.
Puck drop is at 7:30 PM, and you can stream the game using the My Teams app. After the game, we’ll have a complete recap for you.

Not a kumbaya thing
Ex-Capital, current Hurricane, and my personal dream man Justin Williams wanted to make it clear to the media. While he was happy for his friends on the Capitals last season, he isn’t going to be nice going into tonight.
Justin Williams on being happy for Capitals winning last season:
“I’m not going to make this a kumbaya type thing. Obviously, I have a lot of respect for what they did last year and I have a lot of really good friends there. I was very happy for them, but that was last year.”

Caps Cuties
So, last year, I started this weird hashtag called “#CapsCuties”. The idea is that people on twitter use the hashtag and @ the Carolina Hurricanes (at the time it was the Pittsburgh Penguins) to share photos they consider “cute”. It’s been cute puppies, cute selfies, and even cute babies! Hopefully these posts will distract the Carolina Hurricanes so much, that they won’t play well. That’s it, that’s the whole thing.
This is your reminder of this movement! We do them every game and will change the @ based on who the Capitals are facing in the playoffs. Here’s a few examples of some posts you can model your own after:

Everyone say hi to Charlie. He’s a one year old blue ticked coonhound mix who likes playing with tennis balls, cuddling, and being silly! Come to the SPCA on Falls Road and visit him. He would LOVE to meet you! #CapsCuties pic.twitter.com/1HQ41CGT6s
