Flyers mascot Gritty got naked (again) during a wild first period between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh on Friday.
The teams combined for five goals before 8 PM and then suddenly Gritty’s clothes were off.
Over the offseason, it was unclear if the NHL would allow mascots to be at games during the 2020-21 season due to the coronavirus pandemic. Mascots aren’t exactly essential (sorry, Slapshot) and with fans unlikely to be at most games, their presence seemed like an unnecessary risk with marginal benefit.
But the mascots fought back! After noticing he was left off Gary Bettman’s initial list, Flyers’ mascot Gritty raised a stink online and started a petition to be allowed at games this year.
The ploy purportedly worked after Gritty got help from Flyers’ forward Kevin Hayes.

After trailing President Donald Trump by 548k votes on Election Night, Biden made a comeback after collecting hundreds of thousands of mail-in votes were counted mostly from left-leaning Philadelphia. The city has voted for Vice President Biden over President Trump 80 to 20 percent.
Biden officially took the lead early this morning in the vote count, turning Pennsylvania blue. Left-leaning Pennsylvanian sports fans took to Twitter and used famous hockey figures from the state to celebrate.
