Ahead of Game 4, with the Philadelphia Flyers trailing the Carolina Hurricanes three games to none, Trevor Zegras had something profound to say.

“How do you eat an elephant?” Zegras asked. “One bite at a time.”

By night’s end, however, the Flyers never made it to the dinner table.

Jackson Blake scored his second goal of the night 5:31 into overtime to give Carolina a four-game sweep of the Flyers.

The Hurricanes outscored the Flyers 13-5 in the series and out-attempted them in the four games, 285-174.

While the Hurricanes shook hands with the Flyers afterward, the Carolina social media staff went into overdrive to deliver low blow after low blow to Philadelphia online.

They first targeted the Flyers with “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” memes.

Then they went after their culture.

Stormy, in particular, targeted Gritty — a mascot infinitely better in both substance and style.

If that seemed like a little much, don’t worry, there was more.

With the series win, the Hurricanes advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals for the second consecutive season and await the winner of the Montreal CanadiensBuffalo Sabres series.
