Gritty, er, Spidergritty takes flight on Flyers’ Super Hero Night

Wells Fargo Center became the latest setting for the Marvel Universe as the team hosted Super Hero Night on Saturday.

Philadelphia Flyers fans in attendance were treated to a stunning theatrical performance from Spidergritty that even included web-shooting sounds.

The infamous mascot descended from the rafters of Wells Fargo Center in a full spidey-suit, with only his orange locks showing to reveal his true identity. His catchphrase on the evening “wit grit power comes grit responsibility” also gave him away.

Once he was done shucking and jiving on the ice, Gritty focused on some important goals to achieve during his time donning the red and blue.

Like “who tryina upside down smooch?”

And “me when I find the guy who pulled up on uncle ben.”

While Gritty may have been the pièce de résistance of the evening, Marvel Super Hero Night included many unique aspects.

The first 3,000 fans to enter Wells Fargo Arena were gifted a Gritty and Spider-Man poster, featuring a comic strip where Spider-Man and Gritty team up to defeat “the Canadian Gladiator.”

Topical considering the Flyers took on the Senators, and this so called Canadian Gladiator bore a striking resemblance to the Senators logo.

Philly hosted similar events in 2022 and 2023, and Gritty has taken on a multitude of characters for the shows. In 2022, Gritty became “super gremlin” where he is seen with what seems to be the infinity stones, carrying the power quite casually, might we add. Word on the street is you get all of those you burn up, but not this guy!

In 2022, Gritty even posed for his first magazine cover, being the star of Marvels “Avengers” #53 Variant cover. He is seen fighting (or just posed to look cool) alongside Iron Man. The comic was given to fans who attended the 2022 Super Hero Night.

The Flyers took home the victory on Super Hero Night this year as they defeated the Sens 4-2 to remain in their third spot in the Metro Division.

We can only guess it was because their spidey senses were on extra high alert. All-in-all, hats (or masks) off to the mad-people/geniuses who once again perfectly executed an enthralling Gritty-packed evening.
