Four-year-old Sergei Ovechkin combined with Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby to win the Breakaway Challenge at the 2023 All-Star Skills competition on Friday.
We know who won the figurative trophy, but who went home with the extremely valuable prop they autographed during it?
Alex Ovechkin had a very fun day at the 2023 NHL All-Star Skills Competition as he got to take in all the action with his four-year-old son Sergei. The dynamic duo’s biggest moment of the night came during the Breakaway Challenge where they teamed up with Sidney Crosby and put up a perfect 40 score to win the whole thing.
Ovi was asked about the special day afterward and commented on just how much fun Sergei had and the shot that won them their challenge.

The last time that Alex Ovechkin participated in the Hardest Shot Competition in 2018, he won the event with a 101.3 MPH clapper.
Five years later, Ovechkin could not defend his title. Nor could he even eclipse the century mark.
Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby were announced to be a dual entrant in the All-Star Skills Competition’s Breakaway Challenge.
But it was all a ruse to let Ovi’s four-year-old son Sergei steal the show.
After an elaborate setup at center ice with PK Subban, Ovechkin and Crosby signed the defenseman’s jersey before the former Norris Trophy winner asked one other legend for his ink: Sergei.
Ovi Jr. ambled out and then they all went in on Roberto Luongo alone on a three-on-none breakaway.

The NHL his hosting the 2023 All-Star Skills Competition at FLA Live Arena at 7:15 pm. The special event can be watched on on ESPN, ESPN+, Sportsnet, and TVA Sports.
The league will have their all-star players participate in seven different events.

Alex Ovechkin had a special guest with him on the ice during warmups of the All-Star Skills Competition.
Four-year-old Sergei Ovechkin, Ovi’s oldest son, threw on his skates and ambled around the FLA Live Arena rink with his dad.
The NHL announced on Thursday the player assignments for the 2023 NHL All-Star Skills Competition. The event will be held on Friday, February 3 at 7 pm and air on ESPN, ESPN+, Sportsnet, and TVA Sports. The Florida Panthers are hosting All-Star Weekend at FLA Live Arena, in Sunrise, Fla.
The All-Star Skills Competition will feature seven different events and almost every all-star will participate in at least one of the seven.
Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin will take part in the Breakaway Challenge alongside Sidney Crosby and try to recapture his crown in the Hardest Shot competition.
The NHL added three brand new events to the night which include the Splash Shot, Pitch ‘n Puck, and Tendy Tandem.
They have also brought in five elite women’s hockey players from Team USA and Team Canada to take part in the action.

We already know that Alex Ovechkin will be competing in the NHL Breakaway Challenge with Sidney Crosby on Friday night, an event he has won three times in the past. Now, it turns out that Ovi will compete in another All-Star Skills competition that he has won before.
The Great Eight will try to reclaim his crown in the Hardest Shot competition. Ovi won the event in 2018, which was held in Tampa Bay. Ovechkin was the first forward to win since Sergei Fedorov did in 2002.

This generation’s biggest rivals, Sindey Crosby and Alex Ovechkin, will once again be Metropolitan Division teammates at the 2023 NHL All-Star Game. But they’ll also be more than that.
According to ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski, the two superstars will participate in the All-Star Skills Competition on Friday night and compete in the NHL Breakaway Challenge together.
Ovechkin is a three-time winner of the event receiving top honors in 2008, 2009, and 2011. After that, he shied away from the event preferring to let other young players have the spotlight and try to make a name for themselves.
