The Washington Capitals selected goaltender Chase Clark with the 183rd pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. Clark’s 2020-21 season was spent with the Jersey Hitmen of the USPHL.
Clark is a massive netminder, checking in at six-foot-six and 218-pounds.

The Washington Capitals selected defenseman Dru Krebs with the 176th pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. Krebs plays for the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL and is the fourth defensemen picked up by the Caps so far in this draft.
That makes ten players from the WHL in the last four Caps draft classes.

The Washington Capitals selected German center Haakon Hänelt with the 151st pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. Hanelt plays for Eisbären Berlin of the DEL, the highest level of play in professional German ice hockey.
Hänelt is the first German player the Capitals have drafted since Philipp Grubauer in 2010.

The Washington Capitals selected defenseman Joaquim Lemay with the 119th pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. Lemay last played for the Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the BCHL but is committed to Nebraska-Omaha.
Lemay is the third defenseman taken by the Caps with their three picks so far.

The Washington Capitals traded their 75th overall selection to the New York Rangers in exchange for pick numbers 80 and 176 later in the draft. With the 80th overall selection, they grabbed defenseman, Brent Johnson. Johnson last played on the Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL but is committed to the University of North Dakota.
Corey Pronman of The Athletic had him listed as the 92nd best skater available in this year’s draft.

The Washington Capitals selected Vincent Iorio with the 55th overall selection in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. Iorio plays for the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL and has played three seasons with the team. He is the ninth player from the WHL that the Caps have selected in the past four drafts.
The Capitals did not have a pick on the first day of the draft due to the Anthony Mantha trade so Iorio is their first addition in this year’s class. Corey Pronman of the Athletic had him projected as his 81st best player available in this draft.
NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly announced the pick virtually from the NHL Network studio.

The first round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft was completed Friday night after 32 picks took almost four hours to complete. The Washington Capitals did not make any of those 32 picks and their first selection in this year’s draft comes at 55th overall in the second round.
So, let’s take a look at some of the names that the Caps could see come their way later today.

With the first pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, the Buffalo Sabres selected defenseman Owen Power. Power spent his 2020-21 season in collegiate hockey with the University of Michigan Wolverine.
Power, a Mississauga, Ontario native, joins fellow defenseman Rasmus Dahlin as the second defenseman selected number one overall by the Sabres in the past four drafts.

The First Round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft was held virtually on ESPN 2, Friday night.
The Buffalo Sabres selected 6-6 defenseman Owen Power with the first overall pick. The Seattle Kraken went second and took Power’s University of Michigan teammate, center Matthew Beniers, with their first ever pick. The Washington Capitals were idle and did not trade up into the first round.
The draft started fun but ended awkwardly when the Montreal Canadiens selected Logan Mailloux.
