The Washington Capitals will play their next five games on the road, starting Sunday night with the Chicago Blackhawks, who, incidentally, suck.
Puck drops at 7 PM. I’ve got recap duty.

Uncertainty
The first twenty games of a season are weird. You can’t really trust the data you have so far; it’s too easy to think you’re seeing a team when really you’re just seeing the amalgamation of their opponents, warped by a small sample. That’s why I’m not drawing real conclusions yet, but all signs are pointing to the Caps being a very different kind of team in 2019-20. I just don’t know if it’s different in a good way or not.
Storylines
- Alex Ovechkin has the 42nd most points in NHL history.
- Where were you when Dmitry Orlov made history?
- Garnet Hathaway goofed up his honker.
- Jay Beagle scored. Typical Beagle goal.
- Doo doo doo or whatever. Go Nats.
- The Caps sorta whipped the Rangers on Friday.
- Jack Hughes scored his first goal on Saturday night. Many, many more to come, but I want you to know what PK Subban calls him.
It’s a Complicated and Sad World
Make a place in your life for whimsy, and don’t apologize for it.
