- Nicklas Backstrom‘s assist on TJ Oshie‘s second goal was his 648th career assist, tying him with Daniel Sedin for the fifth most assists in NHL history by a Swede.
John Carlson and Alex Ovechkin have each extended their respective point streaks to six games. Over their last six games, Carlson has recorded 14 points (3g, 11a) and Ovechkin has recorded eight points (4g, 4a).

- The most impressive line on the night was the Caps top trio. While on ice at five-on-five, the three of them help create 14 scoring chances to the Rangers two and 10 high danger chances to the Rangers one. Domination.
- Kempny was great in his return. In the 13:19 of five-on-five time that he played, the Caps saw 66.7-percent of the shot attempts, 71.4-percent of the scoring chances, and 85.7-percent of the high danger chances.
- The Capitals are now 10-0-1 in their last 11 games against the New York Rangers.
