With a four-game active win streak in tow, the Capitals left Washington last night and headed up to New York for a Saturday matinee with the Rangers. In spite of all reason and the explicit will of god, the Rangers are somehow competing for the top spot in the Metro. They’re just one point behind the Caps, who are one point behind the Blue Jackets. So, somehow, this late-November day game with zero rest will have a massive impact on the standings.
Let’s go for five together at 2 PM. Put your TV on NBCSWA or follow along with the stream from your T-Mobile Sidekick. My name is Peter and I’m here for all your game coverage needs.

Projected Lines
Again, no morning skate. We believe that Reirden will let some new faces play today, so rather than hazarding a guess at the lines, here’s a photo of a baby sloth.
Oh and Copley’s in net.

Storylines
- The Caps needed a bit of luck to beat the Wings last night; they were outshot by quite a bit.
- The Rangers also played yesterday. They lost 4-0 to the Flyers.
- Peter (that’s me; hi!) did a deep dive on top-six forwards, especially the difference between Kuznetsov and Backstrom.
- Here’s Ovi, continuing to climb in the goal-scoring race.
- The latest in long-running inside joke of lavishing teammates with absurd praise, Alex Ovechkin has compared Tom Wilson to Eric frickin’ Lindros.
- Michal Kempny suffered a minor upper-body injury (he’s fine) and it’s so stupid I can’t even talk about it.
- The Hurricanes rule. Grumps can take a hike.
- Hey, do you think Ranger (pictured at top) will be there today? I hope so. Big fan over here.
- The mentors trip starts now.
Got some extra passengers with us on the flight to New York…

My friend Mark turned me onto a new video series in which two comic creators leaf through every old issue of Wizard Magazine and talk about it. It’s such a simple idea, but it’s so fascinating. Ed and Jim know a lot about comics, and they’re spelunking a crucial time in the industry: the rise of the speculator bubble, the creation of Image Comics, the looming monopolization of distributors. Plus tons of pouches and big guns and cross-hatching and questionable anatomy. I love this.
