The Washington Capitals announced that their 2024 Caps Canine Calendar is available for purchase, Wednesday. This year’s calendar features 24 different Capitals players posing with either their dogs and or rescues from Wold Trap Animal Rescue. (And perhaps one famous cat.)
Proceeds of the calendar will benefit WTAR and the Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation.
Tom Wilson is more than a hockey player. He’s skilled in the art of commercial cinema, an investor in a local boxing studio, an amateur volleyball player, and a doggy dad.
One of his other side hustles is is volunteering at Wolf Trap Animal Rescue where he sometimes fosters puppies in need of a temporary home. Saturday, the Wilsons and Lindgrens participated in an intake where WTAR brought in 70-plus animals. Volunteers assist with veterinary exams, taking bio photos, and fitting the animals for harnesses/collars.
It also allows the opportunity for adorable photos such as when Tom put a tiny kitten in his shirt pocket.
The Washington Capitals announced on Wednesday that their 2023 Caps Canine Calendar is now available for purchase. This year’s calendar features photos of 27 different players posing with either their dogs or rescues. Biscuit, the Capitals team service dog in training is also featured.
Proceeds from sales of the calendar will benefit Wolf Trap Animal Rescue and Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation.

Tuesday afternoon, Medstar Capitals Iceplex was invaded by an army of heckin’ good boys and an unbelievably adorable floof named Arthur for the annual Capitals Canine Calendar photoshoot.
To raise money and awareness for less fortunate animals, the Capitals partnered with Wolf Trap Animal Rescue to produce this year’s canine calendar. This year’s edition will be available for purchase later this year for $20 and the proceeds will benefit both WTAR and the MSE Foundation.
Like in years past, some players brought their families and pets to participate, while others were matched with some of WTAR’s rescue animals.
The creative directors for this year’s shoot were Taylor Wilson, Annie van Riemsdyk, and Paige Dowd. They helped coordinate the shots throughout the day and somehow managed to maintain order in all of the chaos.

But this year, one furry attendee stole the show and he wasn’t even photographed for the calendar.

The Washington Nationals are struggling mightily this season. They are by far the worst team in the MLB (league-worst 43 wins) and controversially traded away superstar Juan Soto at the trade deadline. They need all pick-me-ups they can get.
Tuesday, they received one. Nationals players hung out with puppies from Wolf Trap Animal Rescue before kicking their series off against the Oakland Athletics.

Tom Wilson went out of his way to do a really nice thing for two young fans who attended the Capitals morning skate on Wednesday.
The top-line winger left the ice to personally give his stick and say hi to another girl who had made signs for him.
Tom Wilson’s lorge hands are perfect for scoring goals (and sometimes punching faces) in hockey, but recently we learned that they can also serve as a nice protective home for some of the smolest kittens on Earth, too.
The just-turned-28 Capitals star spent his off day on Wednesday assisting Wolf Trap Animal Rescue staff with the intake and processing of over 73 animals in need. Wilson was joined by his fiancee Taylor Pischke, Capitals defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk, and Trevor’s wife Annie van Riemsdyk.

The Washington Capitals hosted Capitals Canine Night on Monday at Capital One Arena. And you guys, it wasn’t just a feel-good promotion to sell tickets and get butts in seats (which it was successful in doing).
The promotion was also a multi-pronged activation inside the arena that had — metaphorically speaking — a lot of juicy, steak-flavored treats to it. Like players holding tiny, adorable, adoptable puppies!!!
Thursday afternoon, Wolf Trap Animal Rescue, the MSE Foundation, and the Washington Capitals teamed up to bring the best boys and girls together for the annual Canine Calendar photoshoot.
All proceeds from the calendar go to Wolf Trap Animal Rescue, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that “currently operates to facilitate means of transport, foster, and adoption of rescued pets.” Their program “works to rescue pets who are at risk of neglect, homelessness, and euthanasia from shelters & communities in states of the South.”
