Sergei Ovechkin had a two-time Olympic gold medalist watching him practice his skating at MedStar Capitals Iceplex on Thursday. Tatyana Ovechkina was in attendance to see her grandson get some work in.
The Ovechkin family including Sergei’s dad Alex and mom Nastya all made the trip to the Caps’ practice facility.

The Washington Capitals had a very special guest in the house during their 3-2 shootout loss to the New Jersey Devils on Thursday.
Alex Ovechkin’s beloved mother and two-time Olympic gold medalist, Tatyana Ovechkina, was spotted at Capital One Arena. Ovi wears the number eight in honor of his mom.
It’s the first live Capitals game Tatyana has attended in years. While Ovi was held off the scoresheet, she got to watch her son sweetly grant the wish of 14-year-old Nate Wessel.
Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin is constantly stamping his name all over the National Hockey League record books.
In almost every game he plays at this point of his career another of hockey’s legendary marks seems to fall. Ovi achieved what is his greatest individual accomplishment yet on Friday when he potted career goals number 801 and 802 to fully leap ahead of Gordie Howe for the second most goals scored by a player in NHL history.
Watching him take down Mr. Hockey from afar were his parents Tatyana and Mikhail. Tatyana, the two-time Olympic basketball champion talked to the Russian outlet Championship about the enormous milestone.

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin surpassed yet another NHL legend with his 783rd career goal that he scored on Monday against the New Jersey Devils. He leaped over Gordie Howe for the second-most, game-winning goals in NHL history, trailing now just Jaromir Jagr for the top spot.
Watching from afar was his mother, Tatyana. The two-time Olympic basketball champion talked to the Russian outlet Match TV about the achievement.

Alex Ovechkin did a long interview with Tina Kandelaki of Russian Television International on Thursday. Ovechkin addressed a variety of topics including how he’d like to wind down his hockey career and what it’s like knowing two of the most powerful people in the world.
Ovechkin also revealed during the chat that his family has not been spared of the novel coronavirus. Ovi’s mom, Tatyana Ovechkina, contracted COVID-19.

Alex Ovechkin belatedly celebrated his 35th birthday in Moscow on Thursday.
The sweetest moment of the party happened when Ovechkin slow danced with his mother Tatyana.
Alex Ovechkin’s parents, Tatyana and Mikhail, have been his biggest supporters throughout his hockey career. And though he seems to break a new record every other day–whether the record is from his franchise, this season, or the entirety of NHL history–they still make the time to recognize his accomplishments.
When Ovechkin scored goal number 700, Tatyana and Mikhail, who are currently in Russia, recorded a video congratulating him.
They wished he and his young family well, praised the fans in DC, and thanked the Washington Capitals “because they have this camaraderie, and love each other,” Mikhail said. “[They’re] just a great team, thank god.”

With his secondary assist on TJ Oshie’s goal against the Vancouver Canucks Tuesday night, Alex Ovechkin surpassed Sergei Fedorov as the highest scoring Russian in NHL history.
To mark the occasion, Ovechkin’s parents Tatyana and Mikhail wrote their son a moving letter congratulating him not just on the milestone, but how proud they are of their son for using hockey to make others happy.

Wednesday night, just before returning to practice from their All Star-slash-bye-week break, Caps stars Alex Ovechkin and Dmitry Orlov, together with their wives, Nastya and Varvara, and Tatyana Ovechkina attended a concert at The George Washington University’s Lisner Auditorium by famed Russian singer-songwriter Aleksandr Rozenbaum.
Rozenbaum was a longtime friend of Nastya’s mother, Russian actress and director Vera Glagoleva, who died in August 2017 at the age of 61.
Of course, the whole affair was well-documented on Instagram.

Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin isn’t quite ready to let the Stanley Cup out of his sight. Over the last 48-hours, since winning the championship with the Capitals Thursday, Ovechkin has celebrated in the MGM hotel lobby, partied in a Vegas nightclub, on the Caps flight back to DC, a Clarendon bar, Nationals Park, and Georgetown Waterfront.
Saturday evening was, by comparison, a much quieter affair. Ovi finally took the cup home, along with his Conn Smythe trophy, and spent the evening with his family, friends, and the other Caps Russians.
