On Monday, a derecho, a line of storms with heavy winds, hit the Washington DC area, causing thousands of homes to lose power. Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin was one of those affected, and he had an interesting way to pass the time until the power came back on.

“And what do you do when the electricity goes out?” Nastya Ovechkina wrote, as translated by Graham Dumas, on a video posted to her Instagram stories of Ovechkin, his friend and training partner Gus, his trainer Pavel, and mother Tatyana all playing cards. While everyone else appeared to be fully clothed, Ovechkin was playing cards shirtless.
The only thing that could possibly have made this scene more Russian was if Ovechkin was riding a horse and drinking vodka.
Here’s hoping that the power cut from the storm isn’t an ominous sign of things to come in Game Three on Tuesday.
Earlier Monday, Ovechkin also posted a video to his Instagram story. Ovi’s video showed the torrential rain and high winds that eventually led to the power cut.
