Alex Ovechkin reunites with Dmitrij Jaskin, plans to play in Danis Zaripov’s August farewell game with Kuznetsov and Semin

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin has begun ramping up his offseason workout activities before his 19th career NHL season starts in the fall. Those activities have included an off-ice sweat session with regular trainer Pavel Burlachenko and good buddy and former Caps forward Dmitrij Jaskin on Tuesday.

Ovi previously stated in May, while attending a Gagarin Cup Final game, that he would start his training preparation in July. The Great Eight is getting some work in before he is expected to get back on the ice for some light game action in early August as he plans on playing in Danis Zaripov’s farewell game from the KHL.

Alex Ovechkin surprised with new car at KHL Awards Show, admits he’s not sure what to do with it

Alex Ovechkin and his wife Nastya were honored guests at the KHL’s end-of-season awards show at Barvikha on Thursday.

While Ovi didn’t go home with any hockey awards, he did get to present two trophies to a former Capital and close friend. He also got surprised with a gift at the end of the night.

Alex Ovechkin vacations with former Capital Dmitrij Jaskin and Russian basketball player Vitaliy Fridzon in Turkey

Turkey is one of Alex Ovechkin’s favorite vacation spots, but Russian flights to the country have been suspended until June 21 due to the pandemic.

Ovechkin, along with the families of Russian basketball player Vitaliy Fridzon and Dmitrij Jaskin, found a way around that.

The group got a private jet.

KHL MVP Dmitrij Jaskin reportedly returning to NHL next season with Arizona Coyotes

Original story: Former Capitals forward Dmitrij Jaskin is returning to the NHL after two seasons dominating the KHL on Alex Ovechkin’s Dynamo Moscow (Ovechkin has an advisory role with the team).

According to Match TV’s Pavel Lysenkov and via Sports.ru, Jaskin will sign a two-year, $3.6 million deal with the Arizona Coyotes that will pay the Czech forward a salary of $1.8 million per season.

Jaskin and Dynamo Moscow came to a mutual agreement to terminate his contract after the KHL season ended.

Alex Ovechkin and Sergei attended the Dynamo Moscow game. Ovi Jr asked Dmitrij Jaskin to score him a goal; Jaskin scored twice.

Alex Ovechkin attended Dynamo Moscow’s intracity showdown against CSKA Moscow on Sunday and he brought a special guest. Ovi’s two-year-old son, Sergei, came to the game with dad and had a request for former Capital Dmitrij Jaskin before he took the ice.

“Little Sergei wished me luck before the game,” Jaskin said as translated by RMNB’s Igor Kleyner. “He asked for a goal.”

The reigning KHL MVP would deliver for Sergei in a big way.

‘Cowards Don’t Play Hockey’: Alex Ovechkin does karaoke with Dmitry Orlov and Dmitrij Jaskin in Russia

Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin spent last night hanging out with his wife Nastya Ovechkina, teammate Dmitry Orlov and his wife Varvara Orlova, and former teammate Dmitrij Jaskin and his wife Nadiya.

The crew gathered together for some karaoke performances, which Nadiya documented on her Instagram. She captioned a photo of the group with “sending the boys off to Washington.”

Report: Dmitrij Jaskin expected to sign contract with Dynamo Moscow

Dmitrij Jaskin was not expected to return to the Washington Capitals after the team did not extend him a qualifying offer in late June. Two months later, it appears Jaskin has found his landing spot and will move to the KHL next season after apparently not receiving a suitable offer from an NHL team.

The news was first reported by Sport-Express’s Igor Eronko.

Alex Semin attends birthday party for Alex Ovechkin’s son

It has been over seven years since Alex Semin shared the Capitals locker room with Alex Ovechkin, but the two Sashas proved they are still fast friends when, on Sunday, Semin attended the birthday party of Ovechkin’s one-year-old son, Sergei.

Ovechkin, holding Sergei, stood next to Semin, who appeared to be holding his young son, Danil. The pair watched as a troop of six dyed poodles performed tricks at the elaborate birthday party being thrown in Sergei’s honor.
