It has been over seven years since Alex Semin shared the Capitals locker room with Alex Ovechkin, but the two Sashas proved they are still fast friends when, on Sunday, Semin attended the birthday party of Ovechkin’s one-year-old son, Sergei.
Ovechkin, holding Sergei, stood next to Semin, who appeared to be holding his young son, Danil. The pair watched as a troop of six dyed poodles performed tricks at the elaborate birthday party being thrown in Sergei’s honor.
The two Young Guns have fully transformed into…Dads.
Semin currently plays on the KHL’s HC Vityaz, where he recently captained a preseason game. HC Vityaz is based in the city of Podolsk, near Moscow.
The bongo-playing enigma has kept in touch over the years, going to dinners with the Caps Russians, and attending Ovechkin’s wedding party two years ago.
Both of the Ovechkin’s extended families were in attendance at Sergei’s “Baby Boss” themed birthday party, as was current teammate Dmitry Orlov and wife Varvara, and former teammate Dmitrij Jaskin and wife Nadiya. They were seated at the same table.
