The Washington Capitals had a good chance to go up 2-0 in their first-round series against the Boston Bruins but could not avoid the temptation to turtle and got burned. The Bruins took Game Two in overtime by a score of 4-3.
The Bruins outshot the Caps 48 to 39 and out-attempted them at five-on-five 70 to 49.

Brad Marchand tied the Capitals-Bruins first-round series 1-1 after scoring 39 seconds into overtime.
With Boston’s victory, a Game Five is now necessary. And now it has a starting time.
The Washington Capitals played a taut and tense game against the Boston Bruins on Monday night. Trading goals early before the goalies zeroed in, Washington’s depth showed up big, but the team squandered the lead and let Boston win in yet another overtime decision.
The Bruins struck first as Jake DeBrusk exploited a goof-up by Dillon and Anderson. TJ Oshie got a touch on an Ovi shot to tie the score 90 seconds later. Boston’s top line finally got on the board off Bergeron’s stick, but Hathaway tipped Oshie’s shot to keep the game tied after twenty minutes.
After a scoreless second period, Garnet Hathaway scored his second of the game, a rush goal set up by Orlov, to give the Caps a lead that last until the final two minutes of regulation, when Taylor Hall whacked the puck past Anderson.
Marchand won it a minute into overtime.
Caps lose. The series is tied 1-1.

The Capitals are already without Evgeny Kuznetsov and now they have lost one of their best two-way centermen due to injury.
During the second period of Game Two, Lars Eller went down the tunnel with head athletic trainer Jason Serbus with a lower-body injury. He did not return for the third period.

After nearly two weeks in COVID protocol, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Ilya Samsonov officially returned to the Capitals over the weekend. And Monday, the two Russians attended their first 2021 playoffs game together.
Capitals fan Miranda Rosenfelt spotted Kuznetsov, Samsonov, and Hershey Bears recall Zach Fucale in the press box ahead of Game Two. The three Caps graciously agreed to take a selfie with her as she stood from top of the upper deck.
It’s fantastic.

It’s Game Two and the Washington Capitals are up 1-0 in their series against the Boston Bruins. Lines look the same, but it seems like we will see Craig Anderson starting in net for the Caps. Works for me. He was great last game stopping 21 out of 22 shots. Hoping to see some better officiating and another Tom Wilson goal.
I know not everyone feels that way…especially this guy. Quite the qraphic qesign skills over here, but we’ll get to it.
