Clay Stevenson records second AHL shutout as Bears beat Phantoms 2-0

The Hershey Bears defeated the Lehigh Valley Phantoms 2-0 on night one of back-to-back games between the two teams. This was the team’s second win against the Phantoms so far this season. The Bears are now 9-3-0 and remain first in the league.

Clay Stevenson pitched a shutout tonight after Bears starting goaltender Hunter Shepard received a call-up to the Capitals this morning. Stevenson faced 24 shots from the Phantoms while in net tonight.

Other player highlights include Logan Day registering his 100th career AHL point on an assist. Mike Sgarbossa also had an assist tonight, and now has assists in six straight games.

Bears win fifth-straight at home after 3-1 victory over Bridgeport

After a tough last-second loss against the Baby Penguins last night, the Hershey Bears got back to their winning ways on Saturday, defeating the Bridgeport Islanders 3-1 on home ice.

Hershey is now 8-3-0 and remains first in their division. The victory marked their fifth-straight at Giant Center.

The Bears were led by forward Joe Snively, who registered two assists. Goaltender Clay Stevenson made saves on 26 out of 27 shots to secure the victory.

Nic Aube-Kubel scores first with Bears as Hershey notches third straight win

A back-and-forth game between the Hershey Bears and Leigh High Valley Phantoms ended with the Capitals’ AHL affiliate securing the victory in extra time. The Bears have now won three straight games and post a record of 7-2-0.

After clearing waivers and reporting to the Bears before the NHL season, Nic Aube-Kubel scored his first goal with the team. Chase Priskie also had a banner night, scoring the overtime game-winning goal for the Bears for his first goal with the franchise. It was also his 100th career point.

Ethen Frank and Joe Snively score twice as Bears blow out Baby Penguins 6-1

The Hershey Bears defeated the Willkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 6-1 Sunday afternoon in a dominant showing from the Capitals’ minor-league affiliate.

The game began with an emotional tribute to former Pittsburgh Penguins player Adam Johnson, who tragically passed away in a freak in-game accident.

Two-goal nights from Ethen Frank and Joe Snively led the way for the Bear’s win. Other player highlights on the night include three-point nights from Alex Limoges and Jimmy Huntington, and Russian winger Bogdan Trineyev scored his first AHL goal. Ivan Miroshnichenko dropped the gloves tonight for the first time in his pro career.

Hershey Bears’ four-game winning streak snapped in 5-1 loss to Penguins

The Hershey Bears’ final game of a four-game road trip ended with a disappointing 5-1 loss to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The Bears had won four straight since starting their season getting shutout 4-0 by the Belleville Senators on their banner-raising night.

Thursday was the Bears’ first game since their starting goaltender Hunter Shepard received a call-up to the Capitals. Shepard made his NHL debut and recorded his NHL win tonight against the Devils, winning 6-4.

Clay Stevenson got the start against the Penguins at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Ivan Miroshnichenko scores second career AHL goal in Hershey’s 3-2 (OT) win over Bridgeport

The Hershey Bears swept their weekend three-in-three after beating the Bridgeport Islanders 3-2 in overtime on Sunday.

Ivan Miroshnichenko scored his second goal with the Bears. The exceptional rookie now has three points in his first five AHL games. Mike Sgarbossa also celebrated his 600th pro game by scoring the overtime game-winning goal for his 200th career point.

Former Harvard goaltender Mitchell Gibson got the start for Hershey, playing in his first professional game today. The rookie made 21 saves to help secure the Bears win.

Hershey Bears win third straight after beating Providence Bruins 5-4 in shootout

The Hershey Bears won the second night of their back-to-back against the Providence Bruins, giving them three-straight wins after being blanked on Opening Night. The action-filled game featured back-and-forth scoring, that eventually came down to a shootout. Pierrick Dube and Joe Snively scored in the shootout as Bears goalie Hunter Shephard was able to hold the Bruins to a single goal.

Two-goal nights from Ethen Frank and Jimmy Huntington helped lead the team to victory. Alex Limoges also had three assists on the night while Shephard stopped 32 of 36 shots.

Hershey Bears beat Providence Bruins 3-2 as Mike Sgarbossa and Mike Vecchione have two-point nights

The Hershey Bears collected their first road win of the season, beating the Providence Bruins 3-2 on Friday. The victory marked the Bears’ first win over the Bruins on the road for the first time since January 2020. It also made Todd Nelson the 12th-winningest coach in AHL history.

Veterans Mike Vecchione and Mike Sgarbossa led the team, each with a goal and an assist on the night. Ivan Miroshnichenko also scored his first AHL goal, a game after scoring his first AHL point.

Ethen Frank scores three points in Bears’ dominant 5-2 win over Monsters

The Hershey Bears dominated the Cleveland Monsters 5-2 on Sunday after sputtering a night before. Hershey scored its first goals of the season after getting shut out by the Belleville Senators 4-0 on their banner-raising night, commemorating their 2023 Calder Cup Championship.

Ethen Frank was named the First Star of the Night after notching three points — a goal and two assists — in the game. Frank, who had four shots on the night, was the team’s leading goal-scorer last year.

Notably, Caps prospect Ivan Miroshnichenko scored his first AHL point, an assist, on a goal by Hardy Häman Aktell. The tally was also Häman Aktell’s first AHL career goal. Pierrick Dubé also scored his first goal as a Bear.

Leon Draisatl still seemed to have lingering resentment toward Alex Pietrangelo in handshake line

The handshake line after a playoff series has long been used in hockey as a sign of respect between two teams.

However, Edmonton Oilers superstar Leon Draisatl appeared to use the post-series handshake line to express his feelings towards Vegas Golden Knights star defenseman, Alex Pietrangelo.
