The Capitals are home hosting a fellow Eastern Conference squad this evening, the Toronto Maple Leafs! There’s a change in goal for the Caps, Ilya Samsonov will replace Braden Holtby in net, forcing some to think about the potential for goalie drama (which in MY opinion….is entirely too early). Hopefully, the Capitals can capitalize (sorry) on the Leafs being a little tired since they played last night at home against the Wild and won 4-2.
Puck drop will be at a normal 7PM EST, thank the Lord. Watch on NBC Sports Washington and Peter is back with the recap.

Storylines
- Alex Ovechkin is quite confident that the Nationals will be taking the World Series in Game Five. He thinks he might be their lucky charm.
- THE WASHINGTON NATIONALS ARE GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES
- If you want to support the Nationals, you can buy some of their brand spankin’ new World Series gear.
- One of the best things about watching the Nationals do well is watching other DC sports stars showing their support. Lots of Caps players tweeted their congrats yesterday and Nicklas Backstrom was wearing a Nats lid to practice.
- When I die, I want John Walton to announce “Good Morning, Good Afternoon, and Good Night Elyse” at my funeral.
- For Max Scherzer, it’s a little too early to start talking about the comparisons between the Capitals and the Nationals.
- Capitals prospect Aliaksei Protas has been named alternate captain for the Prince Albert Raiders! Aliaksei is the true prince in our eyes.
- The Washington Nationals are nothing short of creative when it comes to drinking beer out of their shiny new trophy. Brings a tear to our eyes.
- Elena Delle Donne will be droppin’ the puck tonight!! Here’s hoping she brings some of that good luck she brought the Nationals:
WNBA Champion @WashMystics @De11eDonne will take part in the ceremonial puck drop prior to #CapsLeafs tonight at @CapitalOneArena

Not Quite There
The Nationals have a baby on the team. Juan Soto is 20 years old, so he’s not quite able to responsibly drink with his teammates. The GOOD news is that his birthday is October 25th. Just in time for potentially more celebrations. Someone in the Nationals organization…please keep an eye out for this sweet boy.
