Celebrating Nationals found a creative way to drink out of their new trophy just like the Capitals

The Washington Nationals swept the St. Louis Cardinals in the NLCS on Tuesday, clinching the franchise’s first trip to the World Series.

Before the playoffs began, outfielder Adam Eaton, a huge hockey and Washington Capitals fan, drew motivation from the Caps Stanley Cup run in 2018.

“They’re inspirational,” Eaton said. “[T]he way they partied afterward, I think everyone in this clubhouse would like to do as well. We’re not quite hockey players. I don’t know if we’re going to go swimming in fountains or anything but hopefully, that’ll inspire us to get there.”

Early Wednesday morning, Nationals players — some shirtless, others wearing oversized goggles — celebrated their first National League pennant. And like the Capitals did with their Cup stands, the Nationals came up with a creative way to celebrate and quickly get inebriated with their new Warren C. Giles Trophy.

Shots with the NL Trophy

The Nationals used the slanted metal of the Warren C. Giles Trophy to ramp poured beer and alcohol into their mouths. Nationals players that were captured doing these championship shots were Stephen Strasburg, Ryan Zimmerman, Yan Gomes, and Brian Dozier.

The best scenes from the clubhouse

The Nationals began their champagne and beer-soaked celebration after Dave Martinez yelled FUCKEN RIGHT!

Ryan Zimmerman, the Nationals’ first overall pick as a new franchise, really seemed moved by the moment. After shedding tears on the field after the victory, Zimmerman smiled ear-to-ear as he got drenched (with no goggles might I add) with celebratory bubbly.

Max Scherzer was captured just yelling random things.

There was dancing.

Really.

Lots and lots of dancing.

NLCS MVP Howie Kendrick too this awesome selfie.

Then Brian Dozier sang his celebratory song, Calma, by Pedro Capó.

Trea Turner wore a helmet and ski goggles and showed off his bottle of Tequila to reporters.

Poor Juan Soto.

Sean Doolittle’s lightsaber

And then there was Nationals’ reliever Sean Doolittle, who brought out his lightsaber. He even got some impromptu TV time after returning to the field.

Boom

In closing, this Nationals team sure knows how to party and they forever have my admiration.
