The Washington Nationals had a few friendly faces in the crowd at Nationals Park on Wednesday.

Washington Capitals goaltender Logan Thompson and forward Anthony Beauvillier were in the house as the Nationals hosted the Atlanta Braves.

The two posed for a few photos, which the Nats used as an opportunity to give a sneak peek at their upcoming Alex Ovechkin “first pitch” bobblehead.

Thompson wore a Nationals jersey over a hoodie to the game, while Beauvillier rocked a “Curly W” ball cap.

On Saturday, May 16, the Nationals will hand out the bobbleheads in honor of the Capitals’ GOAT to the first 20,000 fans who attend the team’s ‘Beltway Series’ game against the Baltimore Orioles.

The moment that the bobblehead celebrates is when Ovechkin threw out the first pitch during the Capitals’ memorable Stanley Cup celebration at Nats Park on June 9, 2018. Ovechkin notably sailed his first pitch over Max Scherzer’s head and requested a mulligan that he fired much closer to home plate.

Thompson, who has thrown out his own first pitch at Nats Park, is coming off the best season of his NHL career. In 58 appearances for the Capitals, the 29-year-old backstop went 31-21-6 with a 2.44 goals-against average, a .912 save percentage, four shutouts, and a league-leading 29.3 goals saved above expected.

Beauvillier just finished his first full season with the Capitals, recording 28 points (15g, 13a) in 82 games. He has scored 15 goals in two straight seasons and now seven times in his career.

The Nationals ultimately fell to the division-leading Braves, 8-6, as starting pitcher Zack Littell allowed four home runs and has now given up an NL-leading 11 round trippers in just five starts. James Wood hit his NL-leading ninth home run in the Nats’ losing effort.
