Alex Ovechkin has the best selling NHL jersey of the 2018-19 season

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin reached the pinnacle of his future Hall of Fame career (so far) in June 2018, becoming playoff MVP and gleefully raising the Stanley Cup for the first time. Ovi then lived his best life celebrating with the NHL’s championship trophy. He invented the Cup stand, slept with the Stanley Cup, and swam shirtless in the fountains of the Georgetown Waterfront.

These moments captivated NHL fans and made one of the most popular and most marketable players in the league even more popular.

According to ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski, Ovechkin’s jersey sales during the 2018-19 season are more than any other player.

Parley authentic Capitals jerseys now available in the NHL Store

The NHL and Adidas officially announced environmentally-conscious All-Star jerseys on Wednesday. The black and white sweaters, inspired by the color of ice and pucks, are created with Parley Ocean Plastic, materials made from upcycled marine plastic debris. According to the NHL, each jersey is crafted to be a symbol of change in the movement to protect the oceans.

Black Parley authentic Capitals jerseys landed in the NHL Shop for the first time on Friday.

NHL’s environmentally-conscious All-Star jerseys feature team logo on front for first time ever

The NHL has released its annual All-Star jerseys after an announcement tease that they would be made out of recycled ocean plastics in a joint partnership with Adidas and Parley.

For the first time in NHL All-Star game history, each player will rep their team’s logo on the front of the jersey during both the skills competition and game. The Capitals representatives are John Carlson and Braden Holtby, with a last-man vote still running to send Nicklas Backstrom as well.

Adidas teases All-Star Game jerseys made out of plastic ocean debris

The NHL All-Star game will be held in San Jose on January 26. Tuesday, Adidas and NHL teams gave fans a teaser on social media of what the new NHL All-Star game jerseys will look like.

In a Twitter photo posted by Adidas Hockey, the apparel company revealed that they collaborated with Parley for the NHL All-Star Game.

The collaboration means environmentally-friendly jerseys made out of plastic ocean debris.

Alex Ovechkin, TJ Oshie make top 15 best-selling jerseys of 2017-18 season

On Friday, NHL.com released a list of the top-selling jerseys in the NHL, for the 2017-18 season, as tallied from the Fanatics network of ecommerce stores. The Fanatics network includes Shop.NHL.com, NHLShop.ca and Fanatics.com, and the totals were collated over the regular season.

For the Washington Capitals, both Alex Ovechkin and TJ Oshie made the cut, coming in sixth and 12th place respectively. For the 2016-17 season, Ovechkin was the sole Capital on the list at number seven.

Team USA to wear Buffalo Bills inspired uniforms for World Junior Championship outdoor game

Team USA takes it outdoors tomorrow to play Canada during the World Junior Championship. The matchup is the first ever top-level IIHF World Championship game to be played outside.

Being hosted at New Era Field, the home of the Buffalo Bills, Team USA and Nike didn’t look far for inspiration for the team’s uniforms.

San Jose Barracuda’s amazing Pucks and Paws night features dog jerseys, dog puck drop, dog bobbleheads, and dog spectators

Sunday night, the San Jose Barracuda, the AHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, hosted, what I would consider, a Very Special event. The Barracuda held their inaugural Pucks and Paws night against their geographical rival, the San Diego Gulls. Similar to baseball’s Pups in the Park evenings, attendees could bring their best friend to the game.

What made this event even more incredible, however, were the unique dog inspired jerseys worn by the Barracuda and the team’s bobblehead giveaway.

A few weeks ago, ESPN’s Scott Burnside wrote how this year’s Winter Classic lacked national buzz. Here’s another sign things may not be going well– even in this area.
