Not only did Alex Ovechkin score his second hat trick in back-to-back games against the Caroline Hurricanes, but he made a young fan’s night by giving away a puck during warmups.

Five Capitals fans got the surprise of a lifetime when they were recently asked to meet at a MedStar Capitals Iceplex office room.
The fans were told their individual Capitals championship rings had arrived in the mail from Jostens. The limited edition rings cost $12,018 each and are the closest replica to the Capitals’ player rings.
But instead of getting their new bling from a Jostens representative, a furry Russian hockey player delivered the rings instead: future Hall of Famer Alex Ovechkin.
Alex Ovechkin’s generosity was celebrated this week after the Washington Capitals captain gave two sticks away Saturday in the Capitals’ game against Calgary.
In each case, the simple act was touching, not just for its kindness, but also for the pure joy it elicited from each child when they were surprised with a stick from their hero. The video of Ovechkin giving his second stick to a young boy in a wheelchair named Aydin reached far beyond the hockey world, tallying more than eight million views. The President of the United States’ son, Eric Trump, even retweeted the video.
The young boy’s mother, Aneela, tweeted about the big impact Ovechkin’s small gesture had on her son.

On Saturday afternoon in Calgary, Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin tossed his stick over the glass to a young Caps fan, making his day or possibly his entire life. Following the Capitals shootout win over the Flames, Ovi gave another twig away away.
Aydin, who greeted the victorious Caps with fist bumps, was visibly delighted when Ovi stopped, shook their hand, and then handed over his stick.

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin has always had a soft spot for his younger fans and Saturday in Calgary, the Russian machine basically made one kid’s life.
As warmups ended, Ovi tossed one of his CCM sticks into the crowd. And we’ve got breaking news: the adult who caught the souvenir actually gave the stick to the intended target. That has been a problem recently.

In mid-July, Alex Ovechkin became the first NHL player to ever win an ESPY for Best Male Athlete. Ovi wasn’t there to accept the award because he was still in Russia with his wife, Nastya, who at that point was eight months pregnant with their son Sergei.
The Russian machine still made very good use of his time and got some practice in being a hockey dad.
Ovechkin filmed a commercial for CCM and had special guest take part: Dima Zverev, a young boy in remission from cancer.
The commercial celebrated International Charity Day, which is today, September 5.
On Sunday, Jay Beagle signed a four-year, $12 million contract with the Vancouver Canucks, leaving the Capitals after playing parts of 10 seasons in Washington DC.
We may have gotten a clue that Beagle was leaving the organization in mid June. A day after the Caps championship parade, the fourth-line center received a game-used stick from Alex Ovechkin during the team’s breakdown day. Beagle interrupted Ovechkin during a TV interview so that he could sign it.

The day after the Capitals Championship Parade in Washington, DC, Alex Ovechkin let Gillette into his home to document him shaving off his playoff beard.
Two of the three custom Gillette Fusion ProShield razors Ovechkin used are now being auctioned off. The proceeds will benefit Special Hockey (the American Special Hockey Association) – one of Ovechkin’s favorite charities.
The razors have been put into a frame which includes an autographed piece of the Gillette box that was used to store them.
The auction for the two frames start today and will end on July 5th.
On Sunday night, Capitals forward André Burakovsky posted a photo on Instagram of a youth hockey player. He did so because he faced a tragic loss.
14-year-old Oliver Mattsson, son of former Tre Kronor and AHL player Jesper Mattsson, passed away.

The Stanley Cup took an adventure around the DC area Friday afternoon as Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin and team owner Ted Leonsis took the Cup to a trio of locations around the area.
Their first stop was in Arlington, to meet with members of the Arlington Police Department.
