Alex Ovechkin and Ted Leonsis share Stanley Cup with first responders and sick children

The Stanley Cup took an adventure around the DC area Friday afternoon as Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin and team owner Ted Leonsis took the Cup to a trio of locations around the area.

Their first stop was in Arlington, to meet with members of the Arlington Police Department.

After, Ovi and Ted went to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital to meet with patients in the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Department.

According to Mike Murillo of WTOP, Ovi and Ted made sure that every kid who wanted to take a photo and see the Cup got a chance.

The final stop was at Ft. Dupont Ice Arena in SE. There, the Cup was welcomed by members of the Ft. Dupon Cannons, including coach Neal Henderson, who got to raise the Cup with Ovi.

Looking at the smiles on everyone’s faces, the Capitals’ Stanley Cup Championship is continuing to not only bring joy to the players, but to scores of people from all walks of life across the DMV.
