Tiny Caps fan screams, slams door on Alex Ovechkin when he sees Caps captain delivering family’s pizza

Friday night, Alex Ovechkin delivered pizzas as part of multi-year promotional deal he inked with Papa John’s. While the event was pre-planned, the reactions of the people receiving the pizzas were organic.

One fan “didn’t do sports” and had no idea who Ovechkin was. During another stop, magic happened. A tiny Caps fan peeked out the front door, noticed who was approaching, screeched something unintelligible, and ran back inside unable to contain his excitement.

“Okay,” Ovechkin said laughing, continuing his approach up the stairs.

Fatima Al Ali joins Capitals on the ice after practice, Alex Ovechkin gives her game-used stick

In December, Peter Bondra surprised UAE hockey player Fatima Al Ali with a free trip to Washington in honor of her unreal stickhandling skills. Fatima arrived in DC this past Sunday, and on Monday night, she sat courtside as the Wizards and Cavaliers went back and forth in the most entertaining regular-season basketball game of the season. Tuesday, her dream trip continued as she went to her first Caps game and met her favorite player, Alex Ovechkin, in the locker room.

Wednesday, things got even better. In front of a large throng of local and national media, Fatima took the ice with the team after Capitals practice.

Alex Ovechkin meets some mites from the Montgomery Blue Devils (Photo)

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin is a certified legend after tallying his 1,000th point last week. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have time for his people.

After tallying an assist in the Caps 5-0 win over the Flyers, Ovechkin met up with three members of the Montgomery Blue Devils hockey team in the Verizon Center parking deck. Of course he posed for an amazing picture.

Alex Ovechkin meets with Canadian fan who traveled nearly 5,000 kilometers to see him

Tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin could reach the 1,000-point plateau on national television if he scores a goal or tallies a single assist. With that much pressure riding on his shoulders, you’d think the Russian machine would want to hide somewhere and keep to himself.

Instead, after noticing a fan who badly wanted to to meet him, Ovechkin went to the Kettler Capitals Iceplex gate, said hi to the girl, and signed autographs.

Alex Ovechkin’s Instagram stick auction helps raise enough money for Russian child’s emergency surgery

On Tuesday, RMNB reported that Alex Ovechkin and his wife Nastya Ovechkina were auctioning off a game-used stick to help raise the money needed for a Russian baby’s emergency surgery. The pair decided to help raise the funds needed for the two-month-old’s operation through a stick auction on Nastya’s Instagram, where the starting price was $300 USD.

That night, Ovechkin scored a historic goal. Ovechkin tallied his 19th career overtime goal, tying him with Jaromir Jagr for the most OT goals in NHL history. Nastya announced today that the auction for the OT stick, in combination with other fundraising sources, was successful in raising the money needed for the baby’s emergency operation in Denmark. The highest bid for the stick was 103,500 rubles (approximately $1,741.29 USD) from a bidder who wished to remain anonymous.

Alex Ovechkin is auctioning off a game-used stick on Instagram to raise funds for a sick child

Tuesday morning, Nastya Ovechkina announced a special opportunity to land her husband’s game-used stick from tonight’s game on Instagram. It benefits a great cause.

“Dear friends, we are starting an auction,” she wrote. “Alex’s signed game-used stick! The starting price is 300$. All the raised money will go to support a child, who needs an emergency surgery! Give your prices in the comments.”

Alex Ovechkin gives Miles Wood signed photo in bath robe, says ‘sorry about the card’

Before the game, news broke about a Facebook Live session Miles Wood’s dad participated in.

“When Miles was about eight or nine-years-old, he sent a hockey card to Alex Ovechkin,” Randy Wood said. “He said if you don’t sign this and send it back to me when I make it to the NHL I’m going to give you a big bodycheck. Miles never got the signed card back so I’m waiting for that big check on Alex.”

Before the game, Ovechkin signed a photo which read, “To Miles, Take it easy tonight!!!”

Afterwards, Ovechkin said sorry in person.

Alex Ovechkin gives Miles Wood signed photo after ignoring his autograph request as a kid

This week, the New Jersey Devils are hosting their annual Dads Trip, where the players’ fathers travel with the team. Wednesday during a Facebook Live, Randy Wood, the father of Devils forward Miles Wood, told host Julie Robenhymer a special story about his son involving one of his favorite hockey players growing up, Alex Ovechkin.

Santa Ovi: Alex Ovechkin hosts skate for Fort Dupont kids, gives gift of signed hockey sticks

Thursday afternoon, Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin hosted nearly 50 kids from the Fort Dupont Cannons program for a holiday skate at the Capitals practice facility.

The players ranged in age 5 to 18 and are based at Fort Dupont Ice Arena, the only full-size indoor ice arena in Washington. Founded in 1977 by Coach Neal Henderson, they Cannons are the oldest minority youth hockey program in North America.

“I was a little kid once too and my dream was to skate with some NHL players or some guys who I knew and I grew up watching,” Ovechkin said to NHL.com’s Tom Gulitti. “It’s a great opportunity for me and for them.”

Nine-year-old birthday boy travels from Boston to accomplish dream of meeting Alex Ovechkin

The Alex Ovechkin Goodwill Tour visited its home base of Kettler Capitals Iceplex Tuesday morning to make a tiny boy’s dream come true.

The boy, nine-year-old Michael Taylor, took a pre-dawn flight from Boston to watch Capitals practice for his birthday with his mother. Of course he brought a sign along with him. One side read I came from Boston for my 9th b-day to meet Ovi!! while the other was a birthday tribute to Matt Niskanen.
