The Washington Capitals are still kind of a mess — what with their bazillion injuries and Garnet Hathaway’s loogiecrime. Nonetheless, they must play host the Vancouver Canucks for a matinee game at Capital One Arena.
The game starts 12:30 PM. Join me after for the recap.

Twenty Games In
Just thought I’d do a quick reminder of what we’ve covered so far in my recent series.
- The PK is really good.
- Jakub Vrana is about to become a star.
- The Caps have transformed their team defense.
- All signs point to a Braden Holtby resurgence.
- Alex Ovechkin is insanely durable.
So that’s nice.
Storylines
- Happy Jay Beagle day!
Update, 11 AM: Jay Beagle will not play today. - Out of 385 forwards with at least 100 five-on-five minutes, Beagle has the second worst difference between his team’s shot share when he’s on the ice versus off the ice. His teammate, JT Miller, has the league’s best difference.
- Garnet Hathaway with an all-timer quote about his suspension.
- Nick Backstrom is still recovering from an upper-body injury.
- The Caps have recalled Christian Djoos, though he is not expected to play.
- Connor McMichael seems decent.
- April 2, 2020. Yowza.
- Today is Hockey Fights Cancer day, so expect a bunch of purple and maybe some impromptu crying jags.
big game tomorrow so will think about u my man!!! #LueyStrong pic.twitter.com/ek9AuTgJwT
