The city of Edmonton will be hosting the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in 14 years, according to Bob McKenzie. The city also will host the Conference Finals.
The TSN analyst surmised that Edmonton “won” the honor simply due to the low amount of coronavirus cases it has.
With Edmonton and Toronto being chosen as the two NHL Hub cities, the question most often asked now is, which of the two will play host to the Stanley Cup final and Conference finals?
The answer, apparently, is Edmonton.

I’m guessing the rationale for that decision is simply based on public health/safety/numbers. Whatever the reason(s), Edmonton it will be.

Mckenzie added this caveat.
Oh, forgot to stamp today’s tweets with usual but necessary qualifier: It’s 2020, whatever is true now may not be in however many hours, days, weeks you choose because, well, 💩 happens at an astonishing rate these days. Probably a bad analogy to use for a “fluid” situation. 😳

The Edmonton Oilers have won five championships in its history and the city last hosted the Stanley Cup Final in 2006 when the Carolina Hurricanes won the series in seven games. It will be the first time the Stanley Cup Final will be held in Edmonton during the Connor McDavid Era.

The NHL and NHLPA are currently negotiating and finalizing a tentative deal on a CBA extension and return-to-play protocols.
It’s quite possible, if all continues to go well in their talks, the NHL and NHLPA will today finalize and announce they’ve reached a “tentative” deal on: Phase 3/4 Return To Play (RTP) protocols; CBA extension; transition rules; and critical dates calendar.

The other NHL hub city will be Toronto.
